We want to send thanks to all of our athletes for their superb effort. Your support and service of our student athletes and the athletic program are second to none, and is greatly appreciated! Finally, a huge ‘thank you’ to the families and fans of the players. Being a parent of a player is a huge commitment and responsibility. Without all of your effort and consideration, none of this success would be possible! Go Firebirds! 8 9 FOOTBALL 2016 LAKOTA WEST FALL SPORTS COACHING STAFF Larry Cox // HEAD COACH Larry became Lakota West’s head coach when the school was established in 1997. Before coming to West, Cox had spent two years (1995-96) as the head coach at Bellbrook High School where he was named the Southwest Buckeye Conference Coach Of Year in 1995. Cox has led twelve of his West teams to top 10 rankings in the Cincinnati Metro area, and has taken fi ve of these teams (2004, 2006, 2009, 2013 & 2014) to the State playoffs. The 2004 playoff berth was the fi rst for a Lakota school after the district split into East and West in 1997. For his efforts in 2004, Cox was selected by his peers as Co-South West Ohio Coach Of The Year. In 2009, he was selected to coach in the Under Armour All-American Bowl. In 2013 he coached in the US Marines Semper Fidelis Bowl and was awarded a United States Marine Corp Coach of the Year distinction. His 2014 team became the fi rst in Lakota district history to reach the regional fi nals (fi nal 8). Cox and his coaching staff have seen ninety of their former Firebird charges go on to play in college, twenty at the NCAA D-1 FBS level. Six of his players have earned high school All-American status. Cox played for Hamilton Badin High School teams that reached the state fi nals in 1980 and state quarter fi nals in 1981. He earned All Southwest Ohio recognition in ‘81. Before taking his fi rst head coaching assignment at Bellbrook, Cox had been the Freshman coach for three years at his alma mater, Hamilton Badin, and had also served as an assistant at Hamilton High School. Coach Cox is a physical education teacher at Lakota West.
