Luerss. (1882), tribù delle Mentheae Dumort (1827), sottotribù delle Salviinae (Dumort.) Endl. (1838). Sono state classificate sinora più di 900 specie di Salvia (ciò ne fa il più numeroso nell’ambito della Lamiaceae), a cui si aggiungono decine di ibridi (di origine naturale o non) e centinaia di cultivars. Le caratteristiche distintive del genere Salvia rispetto agli altri generi delle Lamiaceae risiedono nell’androceo, la parte maschile degli organi sessuali, dove si ha la riduzione a 2 del numero degli stami (rispetto ai 4 tipici della famiglia), la trasformazione dei due stami fertili in strutture a bilancere e la riduzione a 1 sola teca fertile per stame; tali modifiche sono adattamenti evolutivi all’impollinazione incrociata, causata in genere da insetti, ma in America anche da piccoli uccelli. Il genere Salvia è presente allo stato spontaneo in tutti i continenti eccetto l’Australia (in cui si trovano alcune specie naturalizzate), con diffusione nelle regioni temperate e tropicali dei due emisferi ed escursione altitudinale dal livello del mare a oltre 3400 m.

    Conceptual Garden Design for the Pole Line Road Baptist Church Ying Ying Zhong UC Davis: Landscape Architecture Program Senior Project 2012 Abstract This senior project consists of background research, site analysis and a conceptual site plan for the landscaping at the Pole Line Road Baptist Church in Davis, California. I had received this project during the Project Match Event held on November 6th, 2011. When I first heard about this site, I was instantly interested because the client wanted a Tuscan-style landscap- ing and I wanted to find out what that was. The site provided opportunity for drought-tolerant Tuscan styled landscaping, a sense garden, and an outdoors activities area. This document contains background research and Tuscan style gardens, drought-tolerant plants, and “senses” garden.     Plant Availability List – January 7, 2016 I will be initiating major upgrades to the web site during winter of 2015. I Have about finished restocking plants from the spring sales. I will be adding utilities later to the nursery as well as making repairs. Propagation from cuttings usually takes 2 weeks to root. Colored dots indicate forecasted availability. Newly struck cuttings are marked by M. Newly potted cuttings are marked with a blue dot M and will be ready in 10 - 21 days, depending on variety and temperatures. Recently re-acquired and new stock plants are marked by a green dot M. Replacement stock plants I need to find a source of are marked by a magenta dot M. Those items without any dot are mostly plants that I have as established stock plants or am not currently offering. More replacements of lost stock plants will be coming. I restrict distribution of plants labeled PP and especially PPAF to comply with royalty agreements. This depends on the source of my propagation stock. I finally have bought a modest number of plugs of some of the more popular patented selections, like Amistad, Mystic Spires, and the Heatwave and Suncrest Dancer series. And of course, Wendy’s Wish and the new Ember’s Wish and Love and Wishes. This trial year to determine interest in these patented plants has worked out well, and pretty much as expected. Shell Dancer has shown to handle the winter of 2014 - 2015 in western Massachusetts well. What other surprises are there? A number of old plants in stock have been repotted.

    Salvia (Šalvěj) čeleď: Lamiaceae Rodové jméno pochází z latinského slova salvare = léčit. Vyskytuje se od mírného pásma po tropy. Může se jednat o jednoletku nebo trvalky, bylinu, polokeř nebo i keř. Povrch bývá ochlupený. Lodyhy jsou chutě větvené. Listy vyrůstají vstřícně, obvykle vytvářejí přízemní růžici, mohou být jednoduché, 3četné nebo i 1 - 2x zpeřené. Květenstvím je terminální nebo úžlabní hrozen, klas, lata nebo vrcholík, ty jsou dále složené z lichopřeslenů, listeny mohou být malé i velké, někdy barevné, vlastní květy jsou 5tičetné, kalich i koruna mají 2 pysky, kalich je trubkovitý, vejčitý, zvonkovitý nebo nálevkovitý, horní pysk celokrajný nebo 3zubý, spodní rozeklaný na 2 části anebo 2 zuby a koruna má spodní pysk 3laločný s větším středním lalokem (vzácně jsou všechny stejně velké). Plodem je tvrdka. Zpravidla vydává aroma. Existuje vnitrodruhový taxon: - 'Raspberry Royale' - kompaktní vzpřímený habitus; listy úzké, eliptické až vejčité, lepivé, aromatické, celokrajné, šedozelené, dlouhé do 3cm; květy tmavě červenorůžové Pěstujeme ji na záhoně na dobře osluněném místě. Po odkvětu nezapomeňte provést důkladný řez, aby hodně kvetla i příště. Vyhovují ji dobře propustné půdy. Množí se dělením nebo vyzrálými řízky. Salvia absconditiflora synonyma: S. cryptantha Salvia acerifolia Salvia acuminata oblasti: Jižní Amerika, Peru, SZ Jižní Amerika Roste v Peru v podobě keře, který může být i mírně šplhavý. Povrch je lepivě žláznatě ochlupený. Listy jsou srdčitě vejčité, špičaté až ocasovité, vroubkované, na horní straně draslavé, dlouhé 10 - 30cm, široké 6 - 13cm, spodní strana ochlupená, síťovitě žilnatá a řapíky jsou dlouhé 3 - 8cm. Květy vyrůstají po 6ks na až 2,5cm stopce v 2 - 4cm oddálených klubíčkách, listeny jsou podlouhlé, špičaté, opadavé, dlouhé 1 - 3cm, kalich má délku do 3cm, za plodu je trubkovitý, dlouhý 2,5cm, pysk špičatý, dlouhý 8mm, spodní zuby jsou prakticky srostlé, koruna červená, trubka dlouhá do 5cm, uvnitř hladká a pysky jsou dlouhé 1 - 1,5cm.

Salvia buchananni Hedge is reported for the first time in the wild, after 50 years of having been described from cultivated plants. This species inhabits cloud forests, pine-oak forests and oak thickets, in the northeastern extreme of the state of Querétaro, Mexico. This taxon is similar to Salvia blepharophylla Brandegee (sect. Brandegeia). A broad description, an illustration, photographs, and a map of geographic distribution of the plant are presented.
