Meetings have not yet been scheduled with the Finance Committee. All Legacy Park groups have been given until September 30 to get their budget requests turned into me. • The first advertisement is going out in the October newsletter concerning the Board election in February where 3 seats are up for election. The Annual Meeting date is set as Tuesday, February 7, 2011. Deadlines for candidates for the 2012 Board of Directors Election: Board nominations due to HOA office by midnight on November 3rd. Candidate biographies due to the HOA office by November 12th.

Amenity Monitoring: • We currently have security guards working full time, 40 hours per week, spanning across 5 days. They monitor all the amenity areas, including playgrounds, the lake, etc. They provide us with a written report at the end of each shift. • Police continue to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Playgrounds: • Recreation Station continues monthly inspections of the playgrounds and takes care of necessary safety issues. Tire swings at the Highcroft and Madison playground had to be replaced due to vandalism; the animal spring toys at Kentmere and Lullwater were replaced as well.

2011 Projects & Maintenance:

• Jiles Road Project: The latest update from the City of Kennesaw on August 16:

The city will continue to post updates to the website and email the updates to citizens that have signed up for a direct email on the project. If you want a direct email update, please contact Judy Hobbs in the City Manager's Office, and she can put you on the list for future updates.

• Completed Projects: All the trail light poles have been painted by Georgia Power. The lines have been painted in the parking lot, the curbs around the circle have been painted white, the wall in the clubhouse has been painted where the defibrillator was removed, and a new electrical clock has been placed on the side of the clubhouse facing the pool. Wood rot has been repaired at the pool house.

• Scheduled Projects: We are again obtaining quotes to replace the carpet in the Clubhouse. We’ve worked on maintaining the carpet with regular cleanings, but it needs to be replaced. The portal entrances to the trails will be painted.

• Landscape: We have asked Hutcheson to look at an area along the circle where there has been some erosion and there is a steep drop off into the culvert. They are working on a proposal for that area to increase the safety. The fall flowers will be installed the first of October.

• Handicap Access Chair: In June, the chair was vandalized; the HOA is investigating all options regarding the chair. It has been shipped back to the manufacturer to get pricing for repairs or replacement.

The newly formed Marketing Committee for Legacy Park held their first meeting on September 21st. The mission of the group is to promote the success of Legacy Park both internally and externally. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18th at 6:30 pm in the Clubhouse. Anyone who is interested in serving on this committee is welcome. For more information email Holly Cavanaugh, Chair at: [email protected].

FIRST AID/CPR CLASS FOR LEGACY PARK RESIDENTS

Do you babysit other people’s children? Are you a parent of a child yourself? If you answered ‘yes’ to either question then here’s one more…..have you taken a First Aid/CPR class in the past two years and know exactly what to do in a medical emergency situation? If your answer was ‘no’ to the last question than this class is for you!

A First Aid/CPR class will be held on Saturday, October 22 from 9 am to 12 pm at Primrose School of Kennesaw North. This potentially life-saving class will cover proper care for infants, children and adults who may need emergency assistance.

To register you may call the school directly at 770-218-3500 or e-mail [email protected]. The cost of the 3-hour class is $25.00 and is due within five days of enrollment. Because space is limited and the class fills up quickly, registration is non-refundable but is transferable to another person should you not be able to make it.

You can either mail your check to: Primrose School of Kennesaw North, 3054 N. Main Street, Kennesaw, GA 30144 or stop by the school in person. Primrose is located next to the CVS near the intersection of N. Main Street & Jiles Road. When registering via mail, please include the names of the registrants, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses for confirmation.

Keep Kennesaw Beautiful

1. Recycling creates jobs and is one of the most successful GREEN industries in the world. 2. You should be recycling more than you throw into the garbage. 3. Please rinse and keep the recycle clean. Contaminated recycle is just garbage. 4. If you have a recycle cart and it is less than half full, please wait to put it out until the next week . Every stop to collect costs, collecting every other week cuts collection costs nearly in half. 5. Recycle saves the City money. It costs to dispose of garbage, we get money back for recycle.

Legacy Park Town Herald13 Club & Committee News LEGACY PARK SENIORS NEWS There is a change of events that is very important regarding the Halloween Event:

On OCTOBER 12th, the Legacy Park Seniors are now having a HALLOWEEN DINNER PARTY at the CLUBHOUSE from 7 pm to 10 pm. It is BYOB - whatever you desire to consume. Costumes are highly desirable, but not necessary. Remember that Halloween is dark and scary so be prepared for the unknown. If you would like to bring a dish to the party, please contact Lillian Goulet at 678-401-3618. Lillian will have suggestions for what might be needed to ensure that we have a good variety.

The held on September 9th was a blast! We had more fun and laughter than we've had in the past. This senior group really knows how to have a good time! It was a welcome back and glad to see you - plus where have you been? It's been a long and hot summer. Now that all of the group is together again, we are ready to party! Don't you wish to join us? If you need a ride for any of our events, please call John Husselman at 770-795-9431.

On September 18th, the seniors went to see Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Strand Theater in Marietta. As usual we met in the parking lot and carpooled.

The seniors will be taking the Scary-Etta Haunted Trolley Tour on October 21st. The tour starts at the Marietta Trolley Company. Tis the season for ghosts and gobblins and it’s the perfect time to do it since the weather is no longer hot and humid. We are meeting at the parking lot at 6:30 pm. The tour begins at 8 pm. If we have 10 or more participants, we will receive a discount on the price of tickets. If you’d like to sign up, please give Lillian a buzz. Sponsored by: www.RochellesRealEstate.com IN HONOR OF THOSE WHO SERVE 10th Anniversary of 9/11

On Sunday, September 11th, the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11, residents of Legacy Park gathered at the amphitheater to honor those who have proudly served our country and have protected our freedom and way of life.

Neighbors, families, kids, veterans, active military, members of the Kennesaw Police Department, as well as all the members of Cobb County’s Fire Station 26, stood side-by-side to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001, and those who have lost their lives in the line of military duty.

Activities Director, Trasey Welton did a terrific job of planning and coordinating this wonderful event. Somber memories turned into touching moments that will be remembered by all those who attended. Special thanks to Marvin Longacre of North Star Church, Mayor Mark Matthews, Bob Jones who sang the national anthem, Legacy Park’s own Boy Scout Troop 002 for all of their help, and to Chris White, David Kirkland, Pike Powers and the entire cooking crew for volunteering to cook.

Thanks to all of those who came out to show the brave men and women that serve in the US military how much we appreciate the sacrifices they make on our behalf.
