The colourful and attractive cover page tempts one to pick it up and peruse the contents. The elaborate cover stories enhance my knowledge and make for good reading. I must make a special mention of the series on great Indians, people who have shaped and done India proud, But reading this article really opened my eyes to why every where I got to know hitherto unknown facets of their life, no matter what the crime, is sacred. It has been translated from a Marathi article by Ramkrishna Baakre. Baakre is also the author of 'Buzurg', a compilation of sketches of some of the grand old masters of music. In Part One, we got a glimpse of Vasantrao's childhood years and his early musical training. The article below takes up from the point where the first one ended (although there is some overlap). It discusses his influences and associations, his musical career and more importantly, reveals the generous and graceful spirit that lay behind the talent. The original article is rather desultory. He used to come there from Kolhapur a few days every month to give her tuition.
