BIOGRAPHY Corey McGovern is the global manager of strategy, marketing and business development for Bechtel’s Mining & Metals (M&M) business. He is based at M&M’s global headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
Corey first joined the M&M business in 2002 as a college hire working on bauxite and alumina projects in Australia, and then copper projects in Chile until 2010, when he transferred to the corporate procurement and contracts function in Frederick, Maryland.
He subsequently joined Bechtel’s Oil, Gas & Chemicals business in 2012 as a contracts manager on the Wheatstone
LNG project, where he oversaw contract formation, and later, administration at the project’s module yard in Malaysia.
In 2015, Corey returned to Australia as commercial manager for Bechtel’s Infrastructure business in the Asia Pacific region. He supported the company’s entry into the Australian infrastructure market through key wins on the Western Sydney Airport and Sydney Metro. In 2018, Corey was named executive assistant to Bechtel’s president of Infrastructure based in London, a role he held until returning to M&M in late 2019.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the Queensland University of Technology and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Clemson University.
