News Release For immediate release MDA seeks proposals for two FM frequencies Singapore, 15 June 2016 – The Media Development Authority has launched a public tender to seek proposals to operate commercial or not-for-profit radio stations on two FM frequencies - FM 89.3 and FM 96.3. The FM 89.3 spectrum is vacant while FM 96.3, currently occupied by Expat Radio 96.3 XFM, will be vacated by September 2016 upon expiry of its operating licence. To attract the widest range of proposals possible and inject greater vibrancy into the local radio scene (Please see Annex A for list of existing radio stations), MDA welcomes new concepts and will not limit proposals to any particular genre or programming format. All proposals will be evaluated based on the strength of programming characteristics and quality, as well as the financial standing of the tenderers and their business plans. In addition, those looking to operate commercial radio stations on the two frequencies will be required to submit a monetary bid. Tenderers submitting not-for-profit proposals will not need to do so but they will instead be evaluated on the social impact of their programming concepts. The tender opens today and it will close on 14 September 2016. Results will be announced by the first quarter of 2017. • 1 Minister-Leveraging Icmd Sectors for Future Economic Growth.Pdf
RESPONSE BY DR YAACOB IBRAHIM, MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION, AT THE COMMITTEE OF SUPPLY DEBATE ON MCI’S BUDGET ON FRIDAY, 8 MAR 2013 LEVERAGING THE ICMD SECTORS FOR FUTURE ECONOMIC GROWTH I thank honourable Members for their valuable comments and suggestions. 2. The infocomm, media, and design sectors continue to show great promise – in their own right, as well as their potential to transform society and the economy. Innovation has come about through successive waves of convergence. 3. The first wave of convergence brought together the IT and telecommunications industries – to give us the infocomm sector. This wave is almost complete. Later this year, new homes to be built will no longer need to be fitted with telephone ports, since a data port can serve both voice and data needs. 4. The second wave of convergence is unifying data. This wave is allowing for the emergence of massive datasets from which businesses and government can get deep insights to help improve services. This is why we see data analytics as a promising growth area for the infocomm sector. 5. The third wave of convergence is bringing together infocomm and media industries. It is presently disrupting traditional business models for content creation, but there is no doubt that it will eventually lead to new and more robust business models. We must ensure that our regulatory frameworks are able to keep pace, and Singapore is among several countries at the forefront of studying its impact. 6. Around the corner, we see possibilities for infocomm flowing into autonomous machines. This will be especially relevant as the Singapore economy shifts gear in view of slowing workforce growth.

It is a globally recognized brand that combines world renowned movies with thrill rides for the entertainment of fun-loving and family-oriented consumers. Unfortunately, USS was afflicted by the malfunction of one its most popular thrill rides – Battle Star Galactica (BSG) during its soft opening. The maintenance of BSG will be a lengthy process of up to 6 months before it re- opens to the public. USS fears its vulnerability to other reputable competition within Asia-Pacific during this period of setback. The theme park is therefore in need of a media plan to facilitate the advertising efforts in resolving this issue. The purpose of this media plan is to set out various objectives to attract 500,000 visitors with a budget of S$300,000 in the 12 week campaign period. The plan focuses mainly on reach to achieve the stated KPIs.
