We will enjoy one of the authentic German restau- rants for lunch today. Visit Wildseed Farm The farm has more than 1,000 cultivated acres in Texas and over 200 acres of wildflower fields at its Hill Country headquarters outside of Fredericksburg. Come and view a real working wildflower farm and stay to shop at Blossoms Bou- tique, Lantana Nursery and the famous Brewbonnet Biergarten. Ar- rive in San Antonio in late afternoon and check into the famous San Antonio Menger Hotel. Step into the exquisite hotel and be transport- ed to a time of frontier history and legend. Sunday, December 1: This morning the history of San Antonio and Texas comes alive as we are joined by a local guide for a sightseeing tour of the city. Explore the area's rich history with visits to Mission San Jose, visit the oldest Cathedral in the U.S., and the El Mercado, the oldest and largest Mexi- can Market in the U.S. Next we are in for a real treat as we visit the S.A.S. shoe factory and outlet store. Lunch and tour of the San Antonio Botanic Gardens “Holidays in Bloom” festivities. Our evening will be spent at the River Walk with a narrated ride “under the lights” on the river while enjoying the beautiful decorations. Monday, December 2: Remember the Alamo—tour the Alamo to learn about the 13 fateful days in 1836.History comes to life as you visit this famous fort, where Davy Crockett and 185 other "Texans" fought against Mexico. You'll tour the museum and enjoy the spectacular IMAX movie, Alamo – The Price of Freedom. Lunch at the Historic Emily Morgan hotel Oro Restaurant. Tour Villa Fianle and the Majestic Theater. Dinner tonight is at an authentic Tex Mex Cantina—Barriba Cantina. Tuesday, December, 3: Bidding farewell to San Antonio we make our way to the Gold Coast of Texas—Galveston Island. Stop along the way to visit The Painted Church- es of Schulenburg. You'll love the opportunity to see these magical treasures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lunch at Pad- dy’s Texas Kitchen and a quick stop at the Besetneys Kountry Bakery be- fore we leave town. Arrive in Galveston in time for an afternoon sight- seeing train tour around the Island City before heading to our hotel. Nes- tled in the heart of Galveston Island's Strand Historic District is The Tremont House, an elegant European-style hotel. Dinner at renowned Gaidos of Galveston, famous seafood restaurant. Wednesday, December 4: It just wouldn’t be a Texas tour without a visit to the Ocean Star Off Shore Oil Rig Museum. Experience the offshore industry first-hand on an actual retired jack-up drilling rig. Next visit famed Bishops Palace, one of America’s finest examples of Victorian exuberance and Gilded-Age ex- travagance and one of “America’s 100 Most Important Buildings” Delight in the Christmas decorations and a restorative cup holiday tea at the Pal- ace—a true Victorian experience. Wednesday, December 4: (cont) Next take a step back in time to tour Galveston's historic Moody Mansion as it is elaborately decorated for the holidays. Christmas lights and em- bellishments adorn the 25,000 sq ft home, which was built in 1895 on the island prestigious Broadway Avenue. Enjoy an Architectural Heritage driving tour of the Victorian neighborhoods with a guide. Tonight experi- ence the elegance and romance of the paddlewheel from a bygone era aboard the Colonel, a triple deck sternwheeler on a dinner cruise around Galveston Offats Bayou. Thursday, December 5: Lone Star Flight Museum—is home to one of the finest collections of re- stored aircraft and aviation exhibits in the nation. Then shopping a free time on the Historic Stand, National Historic Landmark District of Victori- an era buildings that now house restaurants, antique stores, and curio shops. Lunch on your own. Our farewell to Texas evening begins with dinner at the Saltwater Grill and a show at the Grand 1894 Opera House (Christmas show has not yet been announced.) Friday, December 5: One last treat—Visit the Houston Space Center for a 90 minute tour that includes a tram ride to the former mission control, the astronauts train- ing building, and a Saturn V rocket, watching an IMAX film “To Be An As- tronaut,” walking through a shuttle mockup, and the “Starship Gallery” history museum where you will be able to touch a moon rock. Lunch at the Space Center Cafeteria prior to heading to the airport and home. .
