Thus 2.44 minutes time has been saved. Speed on Turnouts between Barauni-Rampurdumra station have been raised from 15 kmph to 30 kmph. Thus 3.00 minutes time has been saved. 2.SCRAP DISPOSAL: 4546.296 MT Scrap has been offered during the year, against the annual target of 3700 MT. Thus division has surpassed the annual target of 3700 MT by 22.87%. 3.SUNDRY EARNING: 1240.68 lakh has been earned from Sundry earning during the year, against the annual target of 1000.00 lakh. Thus division has surpassed the annual target of 1000.00 lakh by 24.07%. 4.PASSENGER AMENITY WORKS: Following important passenger amenities works completed during the year: i.Waiting Hall: Waiting Hall at Gahmar has been improved by providing mosaic/glazed tiles. ii.PF surface : 06 no.PF surface have been improved in the division( PPN-1,Mahuli.H- 1,Jatdumri.H-1Neema.H-1,DNR-1,RDUM-1). iii.PF extension : PF width of Barh/DN PF has been extended in HWH end. iv.PF shed: 03 NOs PF shed have been renovated in the division(PNBE-2,HTZ-1). v.Low cost shed over benches on platforms: 98 nos. Low cost shed over benches on platforms have been provided at various stations under Danapur Division. Station wise break-up is as follows: JMU – 08 nos., BFM-- 02 nos., Basuachak H – 2 nos, TWG – 04 nos. ,ZNA- 04,GMR – 07 no.,DLN – 03 nos. ,HTZ – 08 nos. , RH – 06 nos.,PHK-04 nos, DRV- 04 nos, RDUM-08 nos, BWH-09no, Sheonar.H-02 nos. ,Barahpur.H-02nos, PG section-25 nos. ViFOB: 01 no.FOB has been constructed at Danapur. The Landing of FOB of Fatuha station at PF no. 2 & 3 was infringing the SOD for more than 20 years since raising of Platform. Recently a new landing has been constructed and the old infringing landing has been dismantled. Thus a long old infringement has been removed. vi.Circulating area: Circulating has been constructed at Danapur & Buxar. 5.Water supply improved: a.06 no. Deep Tube well commissionedin the division (KEU-01no,DNR-05 nos.) b.02 nos. shallow tube well at Coaching depot, RGD has been commissioned c.02 nos.newly RCC Tank commissioned(PNBE-01,RNCC-01) d.10 nos. chlorination Automatic plants have been commissioned at DNR. The chlorination of water has thus again been restored in DNR colonies, station and other service building 6.Other importantworks: The abundant old Central School at DNR has been renovated and developed as S&T Training school which has been inaugurated by the GM/ECR on 28.11.14. All facilities for persons with disabilities have been provided at Buxar & Ara station. All work under Touch & Feel scheme have been completed at BXR & DURE station. 04 nos Urinals have been provided at ZNA. The work of additional loop alongwith PI at BKG has been commissioned. 12 Unit type-I & 06 units type-II quarters have been constructed at PNBE. .

The purpose of this interdisciplinary study, undertaken along the levee of river Ganga in the Mid Ganga Plain, was to determine the existence and intensity of arsenic contamination in aquifers being tapped for direct and indirect ingestion of the properties of the region’s ground water, in the four districts of Bihar [India], i.e., Patna, Bhojpur, Vaishali and Bhagalpur. The methodology involved formulation of a protocol for arsenic detection in ground water, use of Field Test Kits for initial detection, obtaining GPS coordinates of arsenic hotspots for spatial analysis of the problem, and confirmatory testing of arsenic hot samples by U.V., and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. Water samples of 28000 private and government owned hand pumps were tested. Many arsenic hotspots were detected in all the four districts, the coordinates of which were recorded by GPS. Arsenic contamination up to 1861 ppb. was found in the western district of Bhojpur, against the W.H.O. permissible limit of 10 ppb. The greatest frequency of contaminated hand pumps was noted in the eastern district of Bhagalpur.

It is ephemeral in nature and 20 comprises a group of seven continuous tall. It is spread over a rest area and acts as a delta to several 21 rivers that flow into it. This area is suffering due to stagnation of water during monsoon period; it is 22 submerged under 4 to 6 meter deep water during monsoon. Cultivation of rainy season crops over it 23 is not possible, even cultivation of winter season crops suffers if the drainage and reclamation of 24 the area get delayed beyond sowing time (15 October); thereafter, this is a mono-cropped area with 25 very low productivity.
