Morphological character- ization, including scanning electron microscope observation supplemented with DNA sequences is provided. Specimens recently found are characterized by the presence of an unlined buccal capsule having a small basal ring, esophagus muscular and glandular, vulva position is slightly post-equato- rial, tail conical, long, and ending in three digit-like processes, phasmids present at about mid-length and cloaca located at the posterior end. In this study the species P. spiculogubernaculus is validated on the basis of molecular data after 47 years from its original description. In the scanning electron mi- croscope examination, the topology of mouth and sensory pits in anterior portion, while the phasmids and digit like processes in posterior portion is clearly observed. Molecular data of the 18S ribosomal RNA and mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) gene were analyzed. Molecular phy- logenetic analyses supported the validity of Procamallanus spiculogubernaculus and confi rmed the paraphyletic status of the members of Procamallanus, Spirocamallanus, Camallanus and Paraca- mallanus. Taxonomic status of members of the family Camallanidae are briefl y discussed along with the results of the systematic evaluation of P. spiculogubernaculus based on molecular data. Většina vyšetřených ryb pocházela z národního parku Nikolo Koba ve východním Senegalu. Celkem byly determinovány 3 rody parazitických hlístic ve 24 druzích ryb (prevalence 71%) z 9 čeledí. Nalezená fauna hlístic se skládala většinou ze zástupců čeledi Camallanidae.

(Physalopteridae), is described from the Accepted January 17, 2019 stomach and intestine of the freshwater fi shMonopterus cuchia (Hamilton) (Synbranchidae) in Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is mainly characterized by the lengths of spicules (468 – 510 µm and 186 – 225 µm), the postequatorial vulva without elevated lips, the presence of pseudolabial lateroterminal depressions and by the number and arrangement of caudal papillae. This is the fi rst representative of the genus reported from a synbranchiform fi sh. Another new congeneric species, Heliconema pisodonophidis n. sp. is established based on a re-examination of nematodes previously reported as H. longissimum (Ortlepp, 1922) from Pisodonophis boro (Hamilton) (Ophichthidae) in Thailand; ovoviviparity in this species is a unique feature among all physalopterids. Heliconema hamiltonii Bilqees et Khanum, 1970 is designated as a species dubia and the nematodes previously reported as H. longissimum from Mastacembelus armatus (Lacépède) in India are considered to belong to H. kherai Gupta et Duggal, 1989. A key to species of Heliconema Travassos, 1919 is provided.

We identified six helminth endoparasite taxa, being Phylum Acantocephala and Family Trichuridae the most prevalent. The high prevalence of the Family Ancylostomatidae indicates a possible transmission via domestic dogs, which are abundant in the study area. Nevertheless, our results indicate that the endoparasite species found are not different from those observed in protected or least disturbed areas, suggesting a high resilience of maned wolf and their parasites to human impacts, or a common scenario of disease transmission from domestic dogs to wild canid whether in protected or unprotected areas of southeastern Brazil. The examined nematodes are predominantly parasites of fishes. Their analyses provided well-supported trees allowing the study of phylogenetic relationships among some spirurine nematodes. The present results support the placement of Cucullanidae at the base of the suborder Spirurina and, based on the position of the genus Philonema (subfamily Philoneminae) forming a sister group to Skrjabillanidae (thus Philoneminae should be elevated to Philonemidae), the paraphyly of the Philometridae. Comparison of a large number of sequences of representatives of the latter family supports the paraphyly of the genera Philometra, Philometroides and Dentiphilometra. The validity of the newly included genera Afrophilometra and Carangi- nema is not supported. These results indicate geographical isolation has not been the cause of speciation in this parasite group and no coevolution with fish hosts is apparent. On the contrary, the group of South-American species ofAlinema , Nilonema and Rumai is placed in an independent branch, thus markedly separated from other family members.

    NOTES ON FISHES IN THE INDIAN MUSEUM. XXVIII.-ON THREE COLLECTIONS OF FISH FROM MYSORE AND COORG, SOUTH INDIA. The three collections of fish which form the subject matter of this note were made by three different collectors from varied types of habi­ tats. Mr. B. S. Bhimachar's material was ·collected mainly from the Tunga river at Shimoga, but he also obtained specimens from tanks, other rivers and torrential streams in the Mysore State. Dr. H. S. Rao's collection mainly consists of pool- , surface- and mud-living species from the Shimoga and Kadur Districts, whereas Prof. C. R. Narayan Rao's material was obtained from the headwaters of the Cauvery river in Coorg where it is a sluggish stream with a sandy or muddy bed. From a zoo-geographical point of view the Mysore plateau is of excep­ tional interest, as it is on the borderland between the' Deccan tract' and the' Carnattic or the Madras tract' of Blanford. Blanford included it in the Carnatic tract but remarked: "Perhaps the Mysore plateau, from Bellary to Bangalore and the Nilgiris, should have been included in this tract [Deccan] rather than in the Oarnatic."l It is fortunate, therefore, that I have been afforded an opportunity to examine extensive materi~l from this region. Our knowledge of the freshwater fishes of South India is mainly derived from the works of Jerdon2 and Day,3 but unfortunately Jerdon was not quite familiar with the specific limits of the species described by Hamilton4 from the Ganges and, in consequence, the correct definition of the species recorded by him is a matter of considerable difficulty, and in the absence of the type material his species can only be identified by studying fresh collections made from type localities.
