Macmillan Coffee The Senior Leadership Team hosted their annual Macmillan Coffee Morning on 1 October with Morning homemade bakes and hot drinks for all staff. This year we raised a brilliant £265! Year 9 Road Safety Year 9 students had the opportunity to watch an informative performance about the importance of Road Safety during October. Sports Awards The PE Department organised another great evening of celebration and awards. This year we Evening were joined by guest speaker Leighanne Robe. Weatherhead After the resounding success of the Weatherhead Unplugged debut in 2017, Miss Donnelly Unplugged organised another outstanding evening of acoustic performances in the Theatre by various students that even topped the previous year! Pink Day HSC students along with the entire Sixth Form student body drove the fundraising efforts and activities for the annual Pink Day, supporting Breast Cancer charities. Year 12 and Year 13 went head to head in the competition for the pinkest common room, with solid efforts from both! Senior Awards Ex-student Sophie McKibbin returned to Weatherhead as a guest speaker for this year’s Senior Evening Awards Evening, delivering a very special and inspiration speech about her amazing and successful career since leaving Weatherhead. Year 7 Halloween Year 7 students had the opportunity to enjoy a Halloween themed disco on 29 October, Disco organised and led by Sixth Form students. The costumes were better than ever and lots of fun was had by everyone! Author Week LRC Manager Miss Granger managed to deliver another exceptional Author Week in November with 5 author visits to Weatherhead from Andy Seed, Bali Rai, Tom McLaughlin, Lauren James and Kim Curran. Students took part in numerous activities and were also able to meet the authors and get signed copies of their books! PTF Christmas Craft Mrs Moretta and the PTF committee organised a lovely Christmas Craft Fair to begin the festive Fair season, hosting local vendors and exhibitors selling a variety of bespoke and handmade items and gifts. Ask Apprenticeships Students In Year 13 who are not applying for university were able to meet with staff from Ask Session Apprenticeships about alternative career opportunities. Seussical the 3 sold out evenings in January saw audiences blown away by the whole school production of Musical Seussical the Musical, an extravaganza of colours, music and laughter, with profits from ticket sales and raffles going to The Book Bus. Year 13 Finance Talk Students in Y13 were able to join a session about university finances and budgeting. Weatherfriends Our friends from Victoria Park Care Home joined the HSC department and students once again for their termly catch up & cake. NCPCC Number Day The Maths department got students involved in Number Day with a teacher number hunt around the school at break and lunch time, along with cakes sales to raise money for NCPCC. Harry Potter Book Another highly successful evening hosted by Miss Grainger, LRC Manager where students Night were able to dress up as their favourite Harry Potter characters and take part in a creepy-crawly experience, crafting and enjoyed lots of wizardly treats! Safer Internet Week As part of the Safer Internet campaign, all year groups were visited by Cyber Champions from Merseyside Police to chat about being safe and careful online. DofE Awards Over 120 students received either their Bronze, Silver or Gold DofE Award at a very special ceremony in February following completion of their projects and challenging expeditions in the Summer Year 9 Well-being Year 9 students had a full day of focusing on their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing with Event sessions being held by Chartwells, My Esteem and a bespoke performance by The Open Door Theatre Company in the evening, where students were joined by parents/carers.
