Dutch National Championship on Playchess The Dutch Chess Federation hosts the 2012 Dutch Internet Championship on Playchess. Seven Grandmasters will play in what is already the fourth national Dutch Internet Championship. Reigning Dutch Internet Champion Loek van Wely will defend his title. Other participants include Ivan Sokolov, Jan Smeets and Robin van Kampen. Ten players have earned a spot in the finals based on their rating, while two other players are qualified on the basis of their ‘masterpoints’ (masterpoints are earned in the Dutch two weekly internet tournaments). These 12 players are all directly qualified for the finals on June 30. Four other players will qualify in the qualifying tournaments held from June 26 to June 29. The total prize fund is € 2500, with a first prize of € 800. The qualifying tournaments are open to all Dutch players. The tournament is played in tournament room 1 of the Royal Dutch Chess Federation on Playchess. Onderwerpen van gesprek tijdens de reguliere vergaderingen zijn onder andere geweest: de jaarrekening 2012, het jaarverslag 2012, internationale zaken, het Nederlands Kampioenschap, sponsoring, het aanmelden van leden door verenigingen, de online ledenadministratie, het scholierenlidmaatschap, toekomstvisie KNSB, huisvesting, jeugduitzendingen en plaatsingscriteria, Schaakmagazine, tuchtrecht en het ratingreglement. Daarnaast is het bestuur twee keer aanwezig geweest bij de Bondsraadvergadering. In november werd het nieuwe bestuurslid Jan-Peter Wissink officieel benoemd. Hij zal de portefeuille internetschaak beheren. Bondsbureau Het bondsbureau is verantwoordelijk voor de uitvoering van het beleid. The good news is that two teams are through to the final. In the Under 160 (u1880) Suffolk thrashed Leicestershire 10-6 in the semi-final and will meet Yorkshire. In the U100 (u1400), Essex beat Lancashire 7.5-4.5 and will play either Yorkshire or Warwickshire in the final. The bad news is that four teams lost their quarter-final matches. Essex were particularly unlucky, missing out twice on board count tie-break. In the Open Essex lost 7-9 to Lancashire. Essex drew 8-8 against Nottinghamshire in the U180 (u2040) group and against Yorkshire in the U160 but went out on the chess equivalent of penalties. The Suffolk team attempting to defend their U140 (u1720) title sank 6.5-9.5 to Hampshire. And accessible: now I'll show you a game by a "chess retiree" whose competitive career ended a long time ago, that I played very recently. Obviously the criteria for evaluating old games and a new one are completely different. But what they have in common, besides the name of one of the players, of course, is also the fact that the story of these games (with a few changes) is going into the autobiographical book that I'm working on. I really like Holland. I used to play at Wijk aan Zee myself, then I took The Sergey Dolmatov to Groningen for the European Junior Championships, seconded Vadim Zvjaginsev at the same place in 1997 at the knockout World Instructor Championship, and went there for candidates matches in Wijk aan Zee and Tilburg.
