La Manga Club is set amid the rolling hills that separate the Mediterranean from the warm waters of the Mar Menor Sea, in the Province of Murcia, southern Spain. Situated in the south of the Costa Blanca, the region is known as the Costa Calida, or ‘warm coast’, thanks to its mild, year-round Mediterranean climate.

Close by is La Manga del Mar Menor, from which the Resort gets its name. This narrow strip of land separates the Mediterranean from the Mar Menor (Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon), which is over 22 kilometres long and stretches from the fishing village of Cabo de Palos to the salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar. With beaches fronting both the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor, the region is ideal for water sports, and numerous sailing centres offer lessons in windsurfing, waterskiing and sailing.

Just 20 kilometres away is Cartagena, an ancient port founded by the Carthaginians in 221 BC, with the ruins of a Roman theatre and a number of archaeological museums. There is good shopping there including the large department store, El Corte Ingles, with shops and cafes leading to the large natural harbour and port where numerous cruise ships visit. Inland from Cartagena, the countryside of Murcia, bordered by the dry, semi-desert plain of Almeria, winds its way towards the picturesque towns and villages of Lorca, Totana and Alhama.

The city of Murcia is the region’s capital and lies 70 kilometres from La Manga Club. Its most important monument is the cathedral, with the Episcopal Palace, and several churches worth visiting. Amongst its museums are the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of La Huerta. The city also offers good shopping as well as pleasant squares in which to relax and enjoy a drink or tapas at one of the many cafés.

La Manga Club has long been synonymous with golf, and with its three championship courses and outstanding practice facilities. The three top-quality, 18-hole championship courses all benefit from uniquely tranquil surroundings and provide many superb views. Whether you are fine-tuning your technique or learning the rudiments of the game, La Manga Club offers a truly diverse and unique golfing experience. South Course Originally designed by Robert D Putman, this classic championship course was remodelled in 1992 by Arnold Palmer, who won the La Manga Spanish Open here in 1975. Located in the centre of the valley, with wide palm-fringed fairways and few hidden dangers, the South, whilst being a top-calibre championship course, is enjoyed by golfers of all standards. Many strategically positioned water hazards and bunkers will punish wayward shots. Length 6499 metres, par 72. North Course Recently completely renovated, the North Course is now, for many players, the golfing highlight at La Manga Club. The North Course is more undulating than the South and offers a different, yet no less challenging, round of golf. Relying on precision rather than length, an added challenge is provided by the ‘barrancas’ that snake their way through the course. These natural storm gullies feature on all three golf courses and add an extra dimension to the game. As with the South Course, and particularly on the back nine, water is a prominent feature. West Course Set amid serene pine woodlands, the West Course has frequent changes in elevation with which to contend. This is a deceiving course that demands the occasional blind shot. A tight front nine contrasts with the more open, but nonetheless challenging, back nine. Those who get the better of the charming and elusive West Course will have played a memorable round. Par 47 - Pitch & Putt The 18 hole, par 47 pitch and putt course is located close to the Tennis Centre. This picturesque course comes complete with bunkers and water hazards, offering ideal practice and enjoyment for the whole family. Facilities Beside the golf clubhouse is an 80-bay, floodlit driving range, complete with target greens as well as a large practice bunker, plus chipping and putting greens.

Golf Academy The Golf Academy caters for all levels of ability, from beginner through to intermediate and advanced. PGA qualified golf professionals guide participants through five mornings of instruction, and their enthusiasm and friendliness make each lesson relaxed, fun and informative. Classes take place Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Weekly Golf Tournaments Official competitions open to all are held at La Manga Club three times a week: Four Ball Better Ball Stableford (Monday) Medal (Wednesday) Individual Stableford (Friday) These have proved very popular as they allow all golfers the chance of playing some competitive golf during their stay. There is a small entry fee plus standard green fee.

Dress Code Gentlemen: Long trousers, bermudas or tailored shorts with polo shirt, shirt with collar, socks. No denims. Ladies: Shorts, skirt or slacks with blouse or polo shirt, socks. No denims or strappy tops. Marshals and starters may refuse entry to the golf courses in the case of inappropriate dress. Please ask the golf administration for full details.

Spikes Soft spikes are obligatory on all three courses. A spike changing service is available at the locker rooms in the main golf clubhouse.

Host to prestigious events, such as the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup, La Manga Club Tennis Centre is one of Europe's finest outdoor facilities. Located in the heart of the resort, there are 28 courts (mostly floodlit) in a choice of clay, AstroTurf or hard surfaces, a Tennis Academy offering first-class tuition for all ages, as well as a shop, equipment hire services and racquet service centre.

You can put your skills to the test at the regular tournaments and friendly matches that are organised by the pros all year round. To find out more and to meet the pros and fellow players, come along to the Tennis Welcome Afternoon, held every Sunday.

Whether you're a complete beginner, a keen amateur or an up-and-coming club player, La Manga Club Tennis Academy will help you brush up & your strokes in no time. Under the direction of La Manga Club head pro, the multilingual coaching team offers a comprehensive, personalised and professional service for individuals, teams and clubs, all year round. Players are graded and split into groups. The ten hour course, two hours per day, is available all year round, Monday to Friday mornings. There are also Junior Academies available for 3 to 19 year olds.

The Tennis Academy runs from Monday to Friday, alternatively why not take a long weekend and join the Weekend Warriors Academy from Friday to Sunday.

Committed to being the best soccer training centre and tournament venue for professional clubs in Europe, La Manga Club Centre for Professional Football, in south-eastern Spain, offers a first-class, year-round practice facility in an ideal climate.

The excellent standard of the Football Centre, first-rate organisation and service have made it the preferred choice of a number of the world's most important teams, both for pre-season training camps and in the run-up to important matches and competitions.

In addition to accommodating professional clubs, La Manga Club also offers Junior Football Academy courses during the school holidays, allowing keen young footballers (the stars of the future!) to learn and play on pitches used by their idols.

Junior Academies All La Manga Club Football Academy Coaches are FA/UEFA qualified and have played or coached at professional club level. Players attending the academy for the full week receive a football to take home. Player attending the academy also receive a discount on the entry fee into the daily Mini World Cup tournaments organised by the LMC Football Academy coaches.

As well as golf, including the Par47 pitch & putt, tennis and football there are an array of activies to participate in to make your stay at La Manga Club interesting and fulfilling. At the tennis centre there’s squash, bowls and mini-golf. There’s also a fully equipped gymnasium with a wide range of cardiovascular equipment, fixed and free weights. Spa services include gym, classes, indoor pool, health and beauty treatments, massage and solarium. You can hire road and mountain bikes at the Independent Activity Centre, which offers a wide range of the latest bikes for all levels of experience. There are also junior bikes for all ages. There are jogging and triathlon trails around the resort and surrounding area. The hills surrounding the resort offer some excellent walking, with well-marked paths and many stunning views. A short drive from the Resort is the Rancho de la Fuente riding stables where horseriding lessons and excursions are available. Or for an unforgettable day on the waves, why not hire a boat? You can choose from a wide variety of craft - sailing, rowing or motorised - with or without a skipper. There are also organised boat trips to the islands in the Mar Menor, just sit back and enjoy the scenery. If you would like to learn to sail while on holiday, there are international-standard sailing schools, such as RYA-recognised Watersports Centre at Mar de Cristal, which offer top-quality tuition for all levels and an ample choice of craft, including catamarans, windsurfers, kayaks and yachts. Or try diving. The Adventure Divers Scuba Centre at the Resort offers scuba-diving courses for all levels, including PADI programmes. The clear waters of the Mar Menor lagoon and the variety of its species make it an excellent place for snorkelling. If speed is your thing then go-karting is a great way to get the adrenaline pumping and put your driving skills to the test. There is a go-kart track only ten minutes’ drive from the resort on the road to Cabo de Palos. And when you’ve had enough of the activities on offer you could always just chill-out by the pool!

La Manga Club has a secluded private beach cove, La Cala. This attractive small beach is set against a stunning backdrop of cliffs and La Cala beach restaurant, which specialises in fresh Mediterranean seafood. The rocky cliffs which surround the cove are great for snorkelling.

There are also numerous sandy beaches in the area such as Mar De Cristal and Playa Honda on the Mar Menor, the unspoilt Calblanque along the Mediterranean coast between the Club and Cabo De Palos and many miles of beaches along the shores of La Manga Strip and the Mar Menor.

The Mar Menor beaches are particularly popular with families with young children, because the warm, shallow water offers bathing fun for all ages.

Banks & Bureau de Change there are several banks and cash machines around the Resort. La Caixa and BBVA can be found at Las Sabinas Commercial Centre. Opening hours are normally 9.30am until 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Chemist There is a Farmacia next to the petrol station.

Churches There are two Catholic Churches in the area, one in Los Belones (Sunday Mass 12 noon), the other in Cabo de Palos (Sunday Mass 10.30).

Doctor There is a surgery on Resort, situated at Las Sabinas above El Arbol supermarket. In an emergency contact the main exchange 0034 968 175000.

Drinking Water Is safe to drink, however if you prefer bottled water it is available at reasonable cost from the supermarkets in the Resort.

Electricity The current is 220v, your UK appliances will work but you will need a 2-pin plug adapter.

Newspapers Are available from the Petrol Station, the Hotel Shop or the supermarket in Bellaluz.

Petrol The petrol station opposite La Plaza is open from 9am until 10pm, it also has a mini-mart for those last minutes items you need.

Postage Stamps Can be bought at the Post Office in Las Sabinas, open Monday to Friday until 2pm.

Property Emergencies Contact the Management Company where you collected your keys.

Shopping Normal shopping hours in Spain are 10am to 1pm, then 5pm to 8pm. Although supermarkets tend to stay open throughout the day. There are two supermarkets in the Resort, La Plaza de Dia at Las Sabinas near to the tennis centre and the independent supermarket at Bellaluz Plaza. Opening hours vary according to season. Carrefour at Espacio Mediterraneo (20 mins drive from the Resort) is open until 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 10pm Sunday.
