The book also contains essays by twelve friends and mentors that contextualize how Public Los Angeles can help shape our understanding of public housing, judicial activism, gender and housework, and the geography of race and class in modern-day Los Angeles. The publication was supported by a grant from the HSSC/Ahmanson Foundation. Please join us on Zoom for a conversation with the book’s co-editors Judy Branfman (UCLA) and Roger Keil (York), Rachael Baker (Detroit Renter City), Mike Davis, Sue Ruddick (University of Toronto), and Marques Vestal (UCLA) to discuss the region’s complex political and cultural history, Parson’s legacy, and visions for the future.
