1. Bring your passport or current official picture identification with you when you shop. 2. Make sure the merchant is a member of Louisiana Tax Free Shopping (LTFS)-Look for our Logo or ask the store. When paying for your purchases show the merchant your passport or current official picture identification and ask for a Tax Free voucher. Save the vouchers and sales receipts for your refund. 3. Redeem your vouchers for a cash refund at LTFS Refund Centers: Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport - The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, New Orleans - Macy’s Lakeside, Metairie - Macy’s Mall of Louisiana, Baton Rouge - Dillard’s Acadiana Mall, Lafayette and Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, Bossier City or by mail.

The international visitor must make all purchases. Louisiana Tax Free Shopping provides refunds of Louisiana state sales tax, and in some cases, local sales tax. Tax refunds are only available from retailers who are members of LTFS. International visitors with a valid foreign passport and less than 90 days duration in the U.S. are eligible for a sales tax refund.

The visitor will be charged full price including tax for his purchase To redeem LTFS voucher(s) the visitor must present the following documents at any one of the LTFS Refund Centers: 1. Voucher(s) with associated sales receipt(s). 2. Foreign passport with current U.S. visa, if applicable. Canadian visitors may use passport, Current Driver’s License/ Identification Card, NEXUS, FAST/EXPRES or SENTRI enrollment cards. For sailors, a shore pass — which contains the passport number — may be substituted for a foreign passport. 3. Roundtrip international airline tickets/ itinerary showing your duration in the U.S.

* If you are leaving the U.S. by car, please mail the refund from your country with the vouchers and sales receipts, a copy of your passport with the photo and U.S. entry stamp/visa.

A handling fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Not eligible for a tax refund: 1. U.S. resident aliens residing in the U.S. and elsewhere. 2. Foreign students residing in the U.S. 3. United States citizens living in another country. 4. Dual citizens (United States & another country). 5. Visitors in the U.S. for more than 90 days. Refunds under $500 will be made in cash. Refunds over $500 or refunds processed by mail will be issued a check and mailed to the visitor at his home address.

To obtain a refund by mail, send: the original vouchers and sales receipts, copy of roundtrip international travel tickets/ itinerary, copy of passport with photo and entry stamp/visa and a statement stating why vouchers were not redeemed at any of the refund centers and where the merchandise is now located to:

Baton Rouge rests along the banks of the Mississippi River. It was named more than 300 years ago when French settlers came across a marker between two warring tribes of Native Americans. The river is lined with the whitewashed, wide columned and French colonial style plantations that grew indigo, sugar cane and rice. Many of the plantations predate the Civil War and en- joyed their golden era from the 1830s-1850s.

Tax Free Shopping Guides, listing all participating tax-free merchants, and instructions in several languages are available at most hotels and at the LTFS Refund Center, located in terminal C of the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday - Sunday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Closed Christmas and Mardi Gras.
