ON THE COVER: Kaffie-Frederick- Photography by JP Thompson Established in 1863, by brothers Adolph and Harris Kaffie, Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile is Louisiana’s oldest General Store. The brothers opened a store at the corner of Front and Trudeau. Their first decade of business proved lucrative so they purchased land and built a new building on Front Street, where it still stands today! In 1956, Titus Frederick, became partial owner and today, it is Titus’ grandchildren who are the co-owners! Kaffie’s has preserved a sense of eclecticism, by offering nostalgic and modern-day products.
