It provides competition for athletes with physical, visual and intellectual impairments in 151 medal events. It is one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world. In Rio, men and women will compete with six gold medals up for grabs. Besides the wheelchair men’s and women’s singles and doubles, quad players with impairments to three or more limbs will compete in mixed gender singles and doubles. The only difference to standard tennis rules is the ‘two-bounce rule,’ whereby the ball can bounce twice.
