Emerging data sources and big data–mining techniques enable analysis of carbon emissions, which contributes to their reduction and the promotion of low-carbon societies. This study uses taxi GPS data to reconstruct taxi trajectories in Beijing. We then use the carbon emission calculation model based on a taxi fuel consumption algorithm and the carbon dioxide emission factor to calculate emissions and apply a visualization method called kernel density analysis to obtain the dynamic spatiotemporal distribution of carbon emissions. Total carbon emissions show substantial temporal variations during the day, with maximum values from 10:00–11:00 (57.53 t), which is seven times the minimum value of 7.43 t (from 03:00–04:00). Carbon emissions per kilometer at the network level are steady throughout the day (0.2 kg/km). -

Through this agreement, the skills and assets of each sector (public and private) are shared in delivering a service or fa- cility for the use of the general public. In addition to the shar- ing of resources, each party shares in the risks and rewards potential in the delivery of the service and/or facili- ty.” (National Council for Public-Private Partnerships, n.d.) 2 Development and Current Situation of PPP Cooperation between public and private organizations has a long history. Developed in the 1970s, public–private partnerships were established to strike a balance between the entrepreneurial spirit and public interest considerations. Cooperation should ideally bring the best of both the government and private organizations. Government wants to gain public values with fewer burdens on budget while private organizations could gain efficiency and fi- nancial return from the cooperation. Based on the Selsky & Parker’s research on 2005, a major driver for such collaboration is dependence on resources or competencies of other organizations. Cooperation with other organizations introduces new sets of stake- holders, with potentially different interests, goals, procedures, and relations. Following the 2007–2008 global financial crises, there has been an increasing interest in the adoption of PPP policy by govern- ments in both developed and developing countries (Osei-Kyei & Chan, 2014). -

Although the direction of ecological corridors have been identified in previous studies, the precise range remains unknown. To address this crucial gap, ant colony algorithm and kernel density estimation were applied to identify the range and restoration points of ecological corridors, which is important for natural conservation and ecological restoration. In this case study of Beijing City, ecological sources were identified based on habitat importance and landscape connectivity. The results showed that, in total 3119.65 km2 of ecological land had been extracted as ecological sources, which were mainly located in the northern, northwestern and northeastern mountainous areas. The identified key ecological corridor covered an area of 198.86 km2, with 567.30 km2 for potential ecological corridors, both connecting the ecological sources. 34 key points were also identified with priority in restoring ecological corridors. -

Beijing's current international airport is the world's second busiest, but also one of the most delayed, with fewer than 20 percent of commercial passenger flights leaving on schedule according to a 2013 report. According to Wikipedia, Beijing Daxing International Airport or Beijing Capital Second International Airport is a planned new airport serving Beijing. The airport is to be built in Daxing District, located 46 km (29 mi) south of city center. The airport will be located on the southern part of Daxing along the border with Hebei province. The new airport which will serve Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, will cover an area of 2,680 hectares. The projected completion date for the new airport is October 2018. A new 37 km (23 mi) high-speed rail line is planned which will connect the airport to Beijing South railway station with a journey time of 30 minutes. All flights from Beijing Nanyuan Airport which is currently only used by China United Airlines, will be transferred to Daxing. The airport's master plan has been designed by airport consulting firm NACO and will feature a ground transportation centre providing the airport with public transportation links to high-speed rail, metro, expressways, Beijing Airport Bus routes, local buses and inter-airport transportation system. -

The south-east area is a representative case for this development. To cope with the problem of increased traffic congestion and emission in Beijing, the government has planned to expand the subway system to cover most parts of the city and aiming at a 1km node-to-node walking distance within the 3rd ring road area by 2020, in order to encourage citizens to use public transport rather than automobiles and develop a more sustainable life- style. In addition to the subway system, the government has planned underground networks as an alternative way to ease ground traffic congestion and land use tensions in downtown areas. Along with the Beijing Government's emphasis on the subway system and underground space development, a new subway station will be built in Nanmofang in the east part of the capital bringing new opportunities to this area, south of the extending CBD. This thesis attempts to connect an increasingly fragmented urban fabric through the introduction of an underground space network. The underground space network provides a large flexibility to link different destinations directly by the all weather pedestrian connections and helps to reconnect Beijing's urban blocks divided by the large street grid for vehicular traffic. -

As the political, cultural, and international communication center of China, Beijing has witnessed a morphological transition that demonstrates typical aspects of this megacity sprawl. Though the morphological changes have been investigated by a number of scholars, emerging changes and new high resolution multi temporal global urban land data allow for a more systematic investigation that results in an evolutionary model that uncovers the urban form dynamics of megacity sprawl. In this paper, we examine the Beijing morphological evolutionary process and the geographic direction of intra-urban sprawl with the use of a new global urban land database obvious periodic sequences ranging from compact to a more loosely-shaped form but also triangular in some cases and rectangular in other cases that utilized an extensive number of LANDSAT images for five-year periods from 1980-2015.
