STUDIA GERMANICA GEDANENSIA Gdańsk 2017, Nr. 37 Marcelina Kałasznik Universität Wrocław, Philologische Fakultät Bezeichnungen für bekannte Personen als Komponenten deutscher und polnischer Eigennamen Designations of known people in the function of proper name components in German and Polish. – Per- sonal designations form an important and open set of linguistic means by which people are called and char- acterized. At the heart of this article is a fragment of the inventory of personal identifications in German and Polish, namely names of famous people. The purpose of the article is to indicate the occurrence of names of known people in selected classes of proper names in Polish and German and to discuss the func- tion of their occurrences in particular onyms. Keywords: personal designations, designations of known people, proper names Bezeichnungen für bekannte Personen als Komponenten deutscher und polnischer Eigenna- men. – Personenbezeichnungen bilden einen wesentlichen und offenen Abschnitt des Wortschatzes. Mit Personenbezeichnungen wird der Mensch benannt und charakterisiert. Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags steht das Inventar der Bezeichnungen für bekannte Personen im Deutschen und im Polnischen. Das Ziel der Studie besteht darin, auf das Vorhandensein der Bezeichnungen für bekannte Personen in bestimmten Klassen von Eigennamen in der deutschen und polnischen Sprache zu verweisen sowie ihre Funktionen in ausgewählten Typen von Onymen zu besprechen. Schlüßelwörter: Personenbezeichnungen, Bezeichnungen für bekannte Personen, Eigennamen. Określenia osób znanych w funkcji komponentów nazw własnych w języku niemieckim i polskim. – Określenia osobowe tworzą istotny i otwarty zbiór środków językowych, przy pomocy których nazywany i charakteryzowany jest człowiek. Noriega, Chair There is little doubt of the fundamental impact of the 1994 Rwanda genocide on the country's social structure and cultural production, but the form that these changes have taken remains ignored by contemporary media scholars. Since this time, the need to identify the the particular industrial structure, political economy, and discursive slant of Rwandan “post- genocidal” media has become vital. The Rwandan government has gone to great lengths to construct and promote reconciliatory discourse to maintain order over a country divided along ethnic lines. Such a task, though, relies on far more than the simple state control of media message systems (particularly in the current period of media deregulation). Instead, it requires a more complex engagement with issues of self-censorship, speech law, public/private industrial regulation, national/transnational production/consumption paradigms, and post-traumatic media theory. This project examines the interrelationships between radio, television, newspapers, the ii Internet, and film in the contemporary Rwandan mediascape (which all merge through their relationships with governmental, regulatory, and funding agencies, such as the Rwanda Media High Council - RMHC) to investigate how they endorse national reconciliatory discourse. -

ANIMATION GUILD AND AFFILIATED ELECTRONIC AND GRAPHIC ARTS Los Angeles, California, December 2019 Vol. 48, No13 I just looked back on The Pegboard from December 2018 to refresh myself on the fi nal issue of what was a very busy year. This year was a little less hectic: with our main contract (the Master Agreement) settled, we only had four smaller contracts to work out with the major studios, plus a lot of individual deals. We did, however, get a lot done besides our usual collective baragining. Highlights include taking the biggest delegation in our Local’s history to the District 2 Convention in Hono- lulu, Hawai’i, holding an election for Offi cers and E-Board and seeing member engagement and committee participation take off like a rocket. My original intention for this article was to write about the outgoing and incoming Executive Board members, changes at the Guild over the last few years and some events to look forward to in 2020. A lot of little things have happened this week, though, that have reminded me about something very important: a union is made up of working people stand- ing together to make things better for themselves and others. I decided to throw out that fi rst article and start fresh with a little insight into what kind of stuff happens behind the scenes here at the Animation Guild. We just had an election that saw many members getting involved for the fi rst time. Our former Business Rep, Jason MacLeod, decided that a single incredibly productive three-year term was enough for a mere mor- tal, so he is off to a new phase of his career and we welcomed our former MEMBERS MAKE IT HAPPEN (continued on page 3) IN THIS ISSUE Members Make It Happen ......................................... -
