Aikido biography of Donovan Waite… Donovan Waite Sensei started Aikido at about 8 years old in Birmingham, England. He got his Aikido shodan at his 14 th . For over ten years he was Uchi Deshi (living in student) under Sensei at the New York . Other important teachers where Ralph Reynolds, Chiba Sensei, Tamura Sensei, Sugano Sensei, Osawa Sensei, Kishumaru Ueshiba, . Saito Sensei opened his eyes on the ways of weapons training and how they can influence body movement.

He has dedicated his life to the practice and the teachings of Aikido. Waite Sensei finds dynamics and safety very important in his training. He had to learn taking safe Ukemi (receiving a technique and break falls) throughout his own training. He has created a structured Ukemi system and has made two videos about this subject. “Meeting the Mat” and “Principles of Giving and Receiving”, he also featured as a model in the DVDAikido3D, this is a unique interactive 3D training aid, see www.aiki.com .

Donovan Waite sensei is teacher at the New York Aikikai (see www.nyaikikai.com) and at Aikido of Center City in Philadelphia (see http://www.aikidocentercity.com). Member of USAF Technical Committee. He gives many Aikido seminars around the world. He has currently the 7th dan and the title of Aikikai so Hombu Shihan.
