REGISTRATION: Guests wishing to bid must register and receive a bid number. Only bids made by registered bidders will be honored. Your signature on the registration is legally binding on your bids.

SILENT AUCTION: All items in the silent auction have a bid sheet nearby. Some items may be packages, and the description on the bid sheets will indicate that fact. Bidding on the silent auction will start at 5:00 p.m. and conclude at 6:45 p.m. If you wish to bid on an item, please do by legibly writing your bid number next to the amount you wish to bid. A valid bid is equal to the minimum starting bid or incremental bid printed on the bid sheet. Other bids will be void. Please bid only in whole dollar amounts.

ORAL AUCTION: Bidders must hold their bid number up to signify their bid to the auctioneer. Please make every effort to attract the auctioneer’s attention. The auctioneer will determine the highest final bid. Upon bidding, you are legally bound to purchase the item at the price you bid, should your bid be the highest.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: All reasonable attempts have been made to describe the items completely and accurately. However, descriptions for goods and services may not contain all details concerning use, limitations, specific restrictions, and expiration dates. Values set on specific items are estimates only and are not warranted by Portland Public Schools or the Atkinson PTA for tax purposes or general value. All items are sold as is, and we make no guarantees for the products or services purchased. Items included in packages do not necessarily need to be used together or at the same time.

ITEM USAGE: Reservations for all trips, stays in vacation homes, or social events must be arranged mutually with the donor, unless otherwise specified. All experiences purchased at the auction are to be taken at the sole risk of the purchaser. Portland Public School and the Atkinson PTA are not liable or responsible in any way for the loss, injury or damage to any person or property. Please be aware of expiration and other dates associated with any item.

PAYMENT: Anyone bidding in either the silent or oral auction agrees to pay the amount of his or her bid if it is determined to be the successful bid. The oral auctioneer or the auction chair will be the final judge for all items sold in the auction. All purchases must be paid in full at the auction. Payments may be made with cash, check, or credit card at the cashier’s table. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds. All items have been donated, so there are no refunds from donors for unused or partially used gift certificates. Please make sure to stop at the cashier’s table at the end of the evening to check whether you won any items.

TAX DEDUCTIBILITY: To determine if there is any charitable deduction associated with any items purchased, contact your own tax consultant. In general, any amount paid beyond the declared value for the item is tax deductible. The Atkinson PTA Tax ID is 93-6039323. If you would like to receive a letter acknowledging a tax-deductible donation, please contact Diana Browning at [email protected]. Cash donations made during the auction for which the bidder receives no goods or services are also tax-deductible.
