Lasso the Moon. Shoot For the Stars!

65th Tillamook YMCA Dinner and Auction Saturday, September 30, 2017 4:00 pm At the Fairgrounds What You are Supporting

Tillamook needs the YMCA and the YMCA needs Tillamook. Your support tonight will go to serve the community that we are all a part of. In the past year we were able to:

 Support 350 families with program and membership support.

 Offer seven classes per week for free for seniors and those with mobility challenges.

 New organizational partnerships expanding throughout Tillamook County.

 Start work on replacing our roofing and windows.

 Upgrade locker room flooring.

 Add swim suit dryers to the locker rooms.

 Add new glass backboards and paint the gymnasium.

 Add HVAC to the Handball/Racquetball courts.

 Add new weight lifting equipment.

1 On the Horizon Here is a look at some things we are looking for in 2018

 Robust after school youth program focused on minimizing the achievement gap

 We are exploring 24/7 access to our Fitness Center

 We are striving to grow our Foundation to provide for our future

 New equipment in the Fitness Center

 Lobby upgrades An Opportunity for the Future The YMCA Foundation provides 5% of its balance to the YMCA for operations every year. If we grow our foundation, we secure our future. Imagine the possibilities if the Foundation were to grow as listed below.

Foundation Balance Allocation to YMCA $2,000,000.00 $100,000.00 $2,500,000.00 $125,000.00 $3,000,000.00 $150,000.00 $3,500,000.00 $175,000.00 $4,000,000.00 $200,000.00 $4,500,000.00 $225,000.00 $5,000,000.00 $250,000.00

Currently the YMCA Foundation has a balance of $1.3 Million. Recently the Y was given a matching gift opportunity, if we are able to raise $100,000 for the Foundation, we will receive a $100,000 match. Ask your CPA, Estate Planner, Attorney, or Financial Advisor what the best way for you to give and receive tax benefits. 2 What’s all the Commotion?

Dear Friends, For three years now I have had the pleasure of being a part of this gathering. In those three years, I have seen amazing growth at our YMCA. I get the honor of watching stories taking place every single day inside and outside of our walls. I hope that you feel that while tonight has a goal of fundraising for the Y, it has an element of thanks and graciousness. The impact that is being made at the Y would not happen if not for you and your selfless contributions of time and financial resources. As you will hear tonight, the Y holds a special value in our community. Kids learn life skills at the Y while adults get to focus on feeling better and being better. I have learned a lot in my role with the Tillamook Y. I have learned that you cannot discount this community in their efforts to get something they want. I have learned that a big YMCA can exist in a small community that cares. I have learned that even if you might not be a “Pioneer” you are still welcomed with open arms. I have learned that no one will tell you all of their secrets about Salmon fishing, if they do tell you a fishing secret, it is not really a secret, you are just the last to know. My hope for tonight is that you feel inspired, encouraged, and invigorated with what is going on in our community. I hope that you see that by supporting the YMCA you really are strengthening the community that we all love so dearly. So please saddle up for some fun tonight, and if you feel the urge to give, give knowing that your gift will help the Y to continue to impact lives. Thank you for being here tonight,

Kaylan Sisco CEO and Executive Director of the Tillamook County Family YMCA

21 Thank you! Join us for next year’s Auction as we celebrate a look back on 70 years of the YMCA in Tillamook County!

Next year’s theme:

Thank you again for attending this year's Auction and Dinner. The Tillamook Y is one of 2,500 Y’s throughout the U.S., and the Y is represented in over 100 countries. Many people wonder “How does the Y support its operations?” The answer is through memberships, program fees, grants and donations. The Tillamook YMCA has a higher membership per capita than most YMCAs in the United States so we rely heavily on donations. Tonight your donations will add to the success of your Y, so thank you for your support. There are a lot of unsung heroes who made tonight possible, and to all of those folks we say, thank you. Please stick around and join us for music and dancing after the auction.

22 A note to remember a friend we’ve lost…. Steve Simpson

Recently our community suffered a tremendous loss. We lost a friend, a family member, a confidant, an expert, a sports fan, and a leader among other things. Steve’s absence is felt and is obvious throughout our community. The Y would not be what it is with out Steve’s enthusiastic pursuit of excellence. We wanted to highlight somethings you may not know about Steve’s service to the Y: Steve served on the Board of Directors for 38 years and served up until he passed. He coached YMCA sports for many of those years. He spent six months assisting in running the YMCA during an Executive Director transition period. I am assuming this was not the height of tax season, but knowing Steve, it could have been and he would not have complained or objected. So to Steve we say, thank you. Thank you for making the Y what it is, for keeping a cool head when the Y needed it most. Thank you for believing in the idea of something being greater than oneself. Thank you for making this community a better place for us all. You will be missed, you will be remembered. As always our friend, Go Ducks!
