Keele River Expedition July 2-14 or Jul 28-Aug 9 If you are a child of nature and are passionate about exploring Canada’s pristine northern wilderness, join our Classic Keele River Canoe Expedition and set yourself free in 2016! Breathe deep ... inhale the scent of black spruce, mountain air and wild flowers.Watch the turquoise waters as they dance over rocky shores embracing the patterns of an ancient land ... a wild land that invites you to explore its heart and soul. Feel the current as it gently moves your canoe through this landscape where every bend brings a new vista and, if the light was just right, a glimpse of a moose with calf, a caribou with its inquisitive glance, or a dahl sheep gazing down from its lofty bower. In the heat of the arctic summer, the temperature soars above 80 degrees - we strip down to shorts and t-shirts and plunge into the sacred waters - not a single mosquito is on the horizon. The Keele is perfect for paddlers with a thirst for adventure, a dream of paddling through a pristine territory with majestic mountains, and a yearning to relive those memories of summer camp, cottages, parks and northern wilderness. Its headwaters originate high up in the Mackenzie Mountains. The miles of swifts and rapids are suitable for a wide range of paddling skills as you can choose whether to release to the roller-coaster waves or find the quiet waters. The Keele braids as it glides down to the mighty Mackenzie River growing larger as each tributary joins in the dance. Side creeks bring the excitement of fly-fishing for arctic grayling and lurking bull trout. At the end of each day, we share an incredible feeling of satisfaction and experience a deep inner peace. Canoe North has been a leader in delivering awesome river adventures for 25 years, inspiring Canadians to discover and celebrate their wild-side.
