Of God's Money' FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 24, 2019 BETTER YET PODCAST ANNOUNCES ‘ALL OF GOD’S MONEY’ COMPILATION IN TRIBUTE TO WILCO’S ‘YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT’ Album will be released July 10 via Bandcamp with proceeds benefiting AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Stream Laura Stevenson’s cover of “Jesus, Etc.” via Stereogum. Since 2016, Chicago-based Better Yet Podcast has been conducting longform interviews with some of independent music’s finest talents. Now they have partnered with some of their favorite guests to create a tribute to one of Chicago’s greatest rock records. all of god’s money is a compilation in tribute to Wilco’s modern classic Yankee Hotel Foxtrot featuring covers from past guests of the podcast including Adult Mom, Ratboys, and Bethlehem Steel. The compilation will be released via Bandcamp on July 10 for $5/more download, with 100% of the proceeds going to AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Listen to the first single—Laura Stevenson's stunning cover of "Jesus, Etc." NOW via Stereogum. The compilation has been part of a journey stretching back almost two years, according to its curator, Tim Crisp, host of Better Yet: I’ve met some unbelievable people over the course of doing interviews on Better Yet. I wanted to find a way to collect some of these folks again in a different way, and the idea of a compilation quickly became a tribute to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, a record ingrained in the city of Chicago. It was a great thrill to see these songs reinterpreted by some of the best. Ultimately, this was all an excuse to help out the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, an organization devoted to servicing those in our city living with HIV/AIDS. AIDS Foundation of Chicago is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “mobilize communities to create equity and justice for people living with and vulnerable to HIV or chronic conditions.” In May of 2019, AFC unveiled its “Getting To Zero” Plan with the goal of eliminating all new transmissions of HIV by the year 2030. In addition to the album’s original eleven tracks, all of god’s money also contains two bonus covers of demos recorded during the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sessions (“Laminated Cat”—released by Jeff Tweedy and Glenn Kotche side project Loose Fur—and Wilco B-Side “Magazine Called Sunset”). all of god’s money will be released via Bandcamp on July 10. • Wilco-Songs Minimalistisch
Folkdays …

But how do I keep a positive outlook on something that has consumed a fair chunk of my life, and continues to take up so much of my time? I believe my brain loves the intersection of art, craft, and technology.

  • Album of the Week: Wilco’S Star Wars
Album Of The Week: Wilco’s Star Wars Once in a while, a talented and established band will blindside the masses with an unexpected release. It causes a buzz for a few days among the band’s loyal fans. That’s pretty much what happened when Chicago Americana rock act Wilco unexpectedly released Star Wars a few days ago. The release has a fuzzy psychedelic edge to it, glossing over Jeff Tweedy’s trademark rhythmic strums while unleashing guitar slinging madman Nels Cline on every track. Definitely a refreshing record to come out in a year filled with musical gems, Star Wars reaches for the skies. The band’s 9th studio album, Star Wars has a lot of grit. Wilco strays even more away from the pop sensibilities of previous albums Sky Blue Sky and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and gets back to their roots. It has a similar sound to the band’s 1995 debut A.M., but there’s a heavier bass tone and you’ll hear tinges of garage rock and blues. A few tracks are absolutely nasty (in a good way) and soulful; you can’t help but dig what Wilco is doing from front to back. Ladies and gentlemen, Star Wars is proof that one of America’s favorite rock bands just got weirder. The name of Wilco’s new album is pretty interesting, huh? Star Wars? Did George Lucas help finance the record? Are Wilco the new Mos Eisley house band in The Force Awakens? We’re going to find out from the band sooner or later.

  • Wilco Bio 2011
After a busy 2010, Wilco is already putting its mark on 2011. The Chicago rock band founded in the mid-’90s by singer, guitarist and songwriter Jeff Tweedy last year launched and headlined the inaugural Solid Sound Festival, while Tweedy produced and wrote two songs for the Grammy- winning release by soul legend Mavis Staples, You Are Not Alone, which won Best Americana Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in February. Staples joined Wilco, Avi Buffalo, Vetiver, the Baseball Project and more to perform at the first Solid Sound Festival, held Aug. 13-15, 2010, on the grounds of MASS MoCA (the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art), a converted textile mill in North Adams, tucked away in the scenic Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts. Wilco has already announced the second incarnation of Solid Sound June 24-26. Along with a pair of headline performances by Wilco, this year’s version features the Levon Helm Band, Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore, New Zealand rocker Liam Finn, alt-country duo The Handsome Family and folk couple Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion. Also performing are soul singer Syl Johnson, jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas and Chicago retro-soul band JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, plus indie-rockers Here We Go Magic, Sic Alps, Purling Hiss and a rare live set by Pillow Wand, a collaboration between Moore and Wilco guitarist Nels Cline. Comedian John Hodgman hosts this year’s Comedy Cabaret, featuring Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac and comics Eugene Mirman and Morgan Murphy. Tickets are available via solidsoundfestival.com. Also, Wilco this winter founded dBpm Records, headquartered in Easthampton, MA, to release future Wilco albums.

  • Jeff Tweedy Bio
Jeff Tweedy bio As the founding member and leader of the ground-breaking American rock band Wilco and co-founder of the alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy is one of contemporary American music’s most accomplished songwriters, musicians and performers. Since starting Wilco in 1994 Tweedy has written original songs for seven Wilco albums, sold millions of records worldwide, won two Grammy Awards, and earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Wilco’s latest studio album, 2009’s Grammy-nominated Wilco (The Album) landed on many critics’ lists as one of the year’s best albums and Rolling Stone magazine recently cited Wilco’s 2002 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot as the 3rd best album of the decade. Regarded as one of the world’s best live bands, Wilco recently became festival curators successfully launching the inaugural Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA. While maintaining a full schedule of recording and releasing albums and touring extensively with Wilco, Tweedy has also toured frequently as a solo artist, playing intimate unscripted acoustic sets that draw from his 400-plus song repertoire. A departure from Wilco’s carefully orchestrated, sonically complex performances, the solo shows showcase Tweedy’s prolific output as a songwriter, his proficiency as a guitarist and his wry sense of humor. Tweedy has also recently added producer to his list of accomplishments, working with soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples on her forthcoming album You Are Not Alone (Anti-). The album, which was produced by Tweedy and features several new original songs written by Tweedy specially for Ms.
