Peter Schoonjans Will Come Out of Retirement to Race in the 2012 World Cup on a Stradalli Trebisacce Red-Pro Peter Schoonjans, the winner of the 2006 GP Lucien Van Impe road race, will come out of retirement to race in next year's World Cup Masters Race in the Austrian market town of St. Johann in Tirol. Peter will ride a Stradalli Trebisacce Red-Pro. September 1, 2011 (FPRC) -- Miami, Florida - Stradalli Cycle, the high performance carbon bicycle manufacturer, is pleased to announce that Peter Schoonjans will ride a Stradalli Trebisacce Red-Pro as he competes in next year's World Cup Masters Race in the Austrian market town of St. Johann in Tirol. GP Etienne de Wilde and GP Roger de Vlaeminck winner Peter Schoonjans retired at the end of 2006, but has now decided to make a come back on a Stradalli for the 2012 Masters. During his professional career Peter won many road races including the 153 Km GP De Immotheker in 2003. Before retiring Peter rode for the Sean Kelly team of Ireland. His bike for the 2012 Masters is the Stradalli Trebisacce Red-Pro a 100% carbon fiber machine with a tensile strength of 50 tons per square cm, and an exterior weave of 3000 weaves per crossing (3K). This light but stiff frame gives riders excellent performance, speed and torque. “Peter Schoonjans is an extraordinary athlete,” said Thomas Steinbacher of Stradalli. “We are very proud that he has chosen to use one of our bicycles for next year's World Cup.” The story behind Peter's return to professional racing is one of man and machine. During the 2011 Masters event Peter met with Stradalli and tested out the Stradalli Trebisacce Red-Pro. He was so enthralled by the bike be bought it on the spot and started making plans to return to the event in 2012. Back in his native Belgium, Peter will now train and race as he prepares for the 2012 World Cup. The UCI World Cup at St. Johann in Tirol is one of the most prestigious cycling events in the world. That would make a good trivia question at the cycling club’s annual dinner, and it’s sure to provide fodder for unending debate. Think about it: How many of us in America know enough cycling history to even come up with five good names? Sure, you could list the men who have won five Tours de France: Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault, and Induráin. (I’m omitting Armstrong, whose seven victories were officially annulled.) But that’s only four names. And Le Tour, of course, is only one race. Most of us don’t know our cycling like we know our baseball. Any baseball fan past infancy knows the names Ruth and Gehrig, Mantle and Mays, Clemens and Bonds. But American cycling fans would be hard- pressed, I think, to remember — let alone spell — the names Joop Zoetemelk and Roger de Vlaeminck. Both of those men, as it turns out, probably belong on any list of all-time greats. Zoetemelk was a Dutch ironman who started and finished the Tour 16 times (and won it once). De Vlaeminck was a Belgian steam engine who won the brutal Paris-Roubaix four times, the marathon Milano-Sanremo three times, and Tirreno-Adriatico, the Race of the Two Seas, six times. I know all of this thanks to CyclingRanking.com, a well-researched and well-documented site that attempts to list, in order, the greatest professional men’s cyclists of all time.The site is a labor of love by a Dutch family that started out as a kitchen-table exercise in the 1970s, and it will humble even the most studious cycling fans.

Circuit de Wallonie 2019 Guide Technique Edito C’est avec une grande détermination que la ville de Charleroi soutient notre épreuve pour sa 53ème édition. En effet, nous bénéficions de l’appui logistique des autorités communales dans son entièreté et nous les en remercions. Cette année l’épreuve empruntera nos belles routes Wallonnes en passant par Thuin, Ecaussines, La Louvière, Binche, Beaumont, les lacs de l’eau d’heure, Walcourt, Nalinne avant de revenir sur nos circuits locaux à Charleroi. Nous remercions toutes les zones de polices pour leur formidable collaboration. Epreuve internationale, cette année encore la moitié des équipes engagées sont de nationalités étrangères. Toute cette organisation ne fonctionnerait pas si elle n’était pas orchestrée par un comité organisateur exceptionnel. L’engouement croissant des partenaires, nous laisse entrevoir une belle évolution. Compétition incontournable depuis 53 ans dans le monde du cyclisme, ayant accueilli à leurs époques des champions comme, Tom Boonen, Peter Van Petegem, Rik Verbrugghe, Johan Van Summeren, le « Circuit de Wallonie – Ville de Charleroi » est une référence en la matière. Comme d’habitude le « Circuit de Wallonie – Ville de Charleroi » couronnera un grand champion de demain.
