Our Adventure begins in the historic Cody, Wyoming, a city rich with many attractions. Please consider starting your expedition early by visiting one of the many museums Cody has to offer such as the Buffalo Bill Center and the Cody Firearms Museum. Our journey begins traveling north from Cody toward the Montana state line and Clarks Fork Canyon. Upon entering the canyon, you are immediately surrounded by the beauty this trip has to offer. We’ll be navigating the deep canyon and rolling river to the starting point of the Morrison Jeep Trail. After a short gathering and photo opportunity, we’ll conduct a brief driver’s meeting on the trailhead. The Morrison switchbacks that lie ahead, 27 to be exact, will be an incredible feat. These switchbacks are very tight and steep. Please no adventure trailers! We’ll gain close to 5,000 feet in elevation as we climb to the Beartooth Plateau above, revealing astonishing views over the canyon and the quest of the trail just conquered. A lunch stop is planned at the top of the switchbacks, however, lunch may be moved to the bottom of the trail, depending on our progress. After plenty of photo opportunities and time to soak in the scenery we will resume our travels. There are roughly 22 trails across the top of the plateau to choose from and we’ll make a decision on the location of our first night’s camp at this time.
