Aquatic Insects, Vol. 5 (1983), No. 2, pp. 69-76. Notes on Italian Heptageniidae (Ephemeroptera). Rhithrogena fiorii Grandi, 1953 and R. adrianae sp. n. by Carlo BELFIORE (Roma) ABSTRACT Rhithrogena adrianae, a new species related to R. diaphana Nav., is described from nymphs and male imagines collected in Central Italy. Taxonomic characters of nymphs and males of R. fiorii Grandi, whose nymphal stage was previously unknown, are also described and figured. Lectotype is designated for R. fiorii. The taxonomic status of Rhithrogena fiorii Grandi, 1953, described from winged stages only, was till now very uncertain. The type locality, near Bologna, is now altered by buildings and factories: R. fiorii has probably disappeared from that site. I have examined in Grandi's collection the specimens referred by her to R. fiorii, labelled: "Bologna, S. Luca, 16.III.1952 (l >, l < subim.), 20.III.1954 (l <, l > subim, l < subim.), 20.11.1955 (1 > subim.), 17.III.1955 (l <), .IV. 1955 (l >).I designate lectotype the male imago collected on 16.III. 1952. None of the spe- cimens is in a good state of preservation. Titillators are not truncate (Grandi, 1960: fig. 21,6 and pag. 91), but with few pointed lobes at the apex. During the first months of 1980 and 1981, in the river Mignone, near Rome, I collected and reared a hundred nymphs of Rhithrogena, from which I obtained some subimagines and two male imagines, easily referable to R. fiorii. I describe herein the taxonomic features of nymphs and males of this species. I also describe the male imago and nymph of a new species of Rhithrogena which lives in the same localities as R. -

ZooKeys 607: 49–68. doi: 10.3897/zookeys.607.9391 Abstract The type specimens of Ephemeroptera (Insecta) housed at the Zoological Museum of Hamburg (ZMH) are compiled in this document. The current nomenclature of all species is given. In total, Ephemerop- tera type material of ZMH encompasses 161 species. Fifty-one holotypes and five lectotypes are present. Forty-one species are represented by syntypes, 85 by paratypes and five by paralectotypes. Material of two species (Cinygma asiaticum Ulmer, 1924 and Pseudocloeon klapaleki Müller-Liebenau, 1982) is missing. The present catalogue is an updated version of Weidner (1964a). -

We collected and identified nine species as new for the country and corrected some previously published records. For several species scarcely treated in the literature, we provide information allowing their identification in the larval stage to promote the acquisition of reliable faunistic data from Iraq in the future. The BMCs of Kerala has also been declared as Environmental watch groups by the Government of Kerala vide GO No 04/13/Envt dated 13.05.2013. In Kerala after the devastating natural disasters of August 2018 Post Disaster Needs Assessment ( PDNA) has been conducted officially by international organizations. The present report of Rapid Impact Assessment of flood/ landslides on Biodiversity focus on community perspectives of the affect on Biodiversity and Ecosystems. It is for the first time in India that such an assessment of impact of natural disasters on Biodiversity was conducted at LSG level and it is a collaborative effort of BMC and Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB). More importantly each of the 187 BMCs who were involved had also outlined the major causes for such an impact as perceived by them and suggested strategies for biodiversity conservation at local level. Being a study conducted by local community all efforts has been made to incorporate practical approaches for prioritizing areas for biodiversity conservation which can be implemented at local level. -

Pešić: 19 February 2018 │ Published online 23 February 2018. Abstract Palingenia fuliginosa (Georgi, 1802) and Isonychia ignota (Walker, 1853) are reliably recorded in Ukraine for the first time. New localities where larvae of Brachycercus harrisella Curtis, 1834, Siphlonurus aestivalis Eaton, 1903 and Metreletus balcanicus (Ulmer, 1920) develop in Ukraine were registered. Baetopus (Raptobaetopus) tenellus (Albarda, 1878) is given for Ukraine for the first time. Investigated microhabitats of these species are shortly described. Main factors influencing the abundance of P. fuliginosa in detected habitats are discussed. Isonychia ignota, P. fuliginosa and M. balcanicus are recommended to be included in the next edition of the Red Data Book of Ukraine. Key words: mayflies, Ephemeroptera, Ukraine, habitats, new records, Red Data Book of Ukraine. Introduction Mayflies (Ephemeroptera) is a very important group in the aquatic biocenosis. The majority of mayfly species is sensitive to pollution and changes of hydrological regime of waterbodies. Therefore this group is commonly used in bioindication and biomonitoring. These investigations are actual because of the ecological situation of the modern world. Bioindication and biomonitoring investigations in any region are impossible without the study of the fauna structure. Thereby, the identification of a species composition (faunistic investigation) is the initial stage of any research. -

Nat. Croat., Vol. 30, No. 1, 73–83, 2021, Zagreb. Here we present a first record of Baetis vardarensis Ikonomov, 1962 in Croatian freshwater habitats. The species was collected in February and March 2020 at two sites in the Sava River. With this record, Croatian mayfly species richness increased to a total of 85 species. In addition, one of the species pre- viously known only from literature, Kageronia fuscogrisea (Retzius, 1783), was confirmed in Croatia. The species was collected in the Rečica River, in March 2020. These results confirm that our knowl- edge about mayfly fauna in different regions of Balkan Peninsula is still incomplete and is increasing with systematic studies. Species Composition of Macroinvertebrates in Medium-Sized Lithuanian Rivers

The article is devoted to the analysis of the taxonomic composition of macroinvertebrates in 17 medium-sized Lithuanian rivers with different kinds of substrata. One hundred and sixty taxa of invertebrates were identified in the course of the study. The obtained results proved that in the same river the number of taxa and Shannon-Weavers index of diversity are substratum type dependent. The greatest number of taxa was established in the stone substratum while the smallest was recorded in the sand one. The richest biodiversity and the highest Shannon-Weavers index in the stone substratum were recorded in the Jiesia River. Rivers with increased organic contamination were dominated by Trichoptera of the genus Hydropsyche. Corresponding author: [email protected] Received Date: 05January 2020, Accepted Date: 11 May 2020, Published Date: 31 May 2020 Abstract This work provides the updated checklist of the mayfly (Ephemeroptera) fauna of Iraq; it consists of 30 species belonging to 18 genera and 10 families. The highest number of species belongs to the families of Baetidae and Heptageniidae, whereas the lowest in Ephemeridae, Leptophlebiidae and Palingeniidae that appeared with only one species for each of them. The current investigation is a contribution to the knowledge regarding the biodiversity of mayflies, with mentioning the synonyms of the species and correcting the scientific names that found in previous publications in Iraq. Introduction Ephemeroptera with two pairs of wings; the fore much wider than the hind wings, which in some genera are reduced in size or even wholly absent; venation system is of considerable importance in classification; further small veins locate between the main veins are termed intercalary veins. Mouth parts entirely vestigial; compound eyes of male larger than at female, divided in some species, and the 1 Checklist of Mayflies upper part prominent as turret shaped; forelegs in males often extremely long; abdominal terminates with two or three long and many jointed filaments, the median one in certain genera being reduced; the male carries a pair of jointed claspers arising from a plate on the 9thsternite (Kimmins, 1950).
