4 WELCOME 2019 Annual Report

This year, we have worked to spread the mission and vision of the National Diversity Council far and wide and will build on these efforts in 2020. As we continue to empower others and transform workplaces as it relates to the LGBTQ+ community, women, multiculturalism and abilities; we hope to make an impact on the diversity and inclusion landscape.

I would like to thank all of our partners, sponsors, volunteers and attendees for their continued support. As we look towards 2020, the National Diversity Council will continue to be an advocate and resource for the importance of diversity and inclusion in and outside of the workplace. We invite you to join us in our journey working towards equity for all at various events across the nation by keeping up to date at nationaldiversitycouncil.org.

Thank you,

Dennis Kennedy Founder & Chair National Diversity Council

Greetings,

Over the course of 2019, we welcomed President Barack Obama as the keynote speaker for our National Diversity and Leadership Conference; unveiled our PRIDE Worldwide celebration in Mexico City; kicked off Legal Diversity Week featuring former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and celebrated the 2019 Dubai Women in Leadership Symposium.

6 National Diversity Council

In April, we kicked off our annual Diversity and Leadership Conference featuring a special session with none other than President Barack Obama himself. He charmed us with his wit and imparted words of wisdom on the importance of inclusion and the role it plays in making our country one of the greatest in the world.

In June, we celebrated PRIDE Month globally, with the launch of our 2019 Mexico City LGBTQ+ Cumbre de la Unidad with the theme #PrideWorldWide. We also partnered with SKYY Vodka and John Cena for a social media campaign promoting “the beauty in diversity” from July 1-July 4 that raised $35,000 in charitable giving for the National Diversity Council. In October, we hosted a top 50 general counsel dinner, featuring 82nd U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, who served from 2009-2015 under the Obama Administration. Holder was the first African American to hold the position of U.S. Attorney General (in both a confirmed and acting position).

Sincerely,

Angeles Valenciano CEO National Diversity Council

Dear National Diversity Council Family, We would like to thank you all for joining the National Diversity Council, as we work tirelessly to improve diversity and inclusion in workplaces and communities around the world. In celebration of the many ups and despite the equally present downs, this journey has been nothing short of amazing.

During the keynote, Obama said that the nation must embrace inclusion and not be divided by differences.

"The working premise of America is that despite those differences, we can come together as a team and transcend those differences," he said.

He charmed us with his wit and imparted words of wisdom on the importance of inclusion and the role it plays in making our country one of the greatest in the world. . We would like to give our sincere, heartfelt thanks to President Obama for joining his voice with ours in advocating for a society in which all are valued for their talents and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
