  • To Improve the Qualityof Life for All Citizens of Our Area, Now
Dear Friends, Thanks to the efforts of many, the region served by the Greater New Orleans Foundation has begun a journey up from hurricane-inflicted disaster toward hope. to improve the of It is not an easy path, nor is it for the faint of heart. At times it feels like a quality yearlong sprint or a marathon that will last many years. But signs are everywhere that you and the great people of southeastern Louisiana are more than able. In for all citizens of our area, this report you will see signs in the hands of children, who are the best reason for life imagining—and creating—a livable, economically strong community. When Hurricane Katrina’s wind and floodwaters subsided, it became clear that generations of leaders and supporters of the Greater New Orleans Foundation had now and for future generations put the organization in a unique position. Now, it would be called upon to play both traditional and completely unexpected new roles in the recovery. Thanks to that history of support, to more than $25 million in new gifts and this is where we belong we are pledges from organizations and individuals, and to the way political, business and nonprofit leaders turned to the Foundation for leadership, the Greater New Orleans Foundation is poised to lead in the years ahead. home to stay in New Orleans We believe that creating a dynamic future for the region depends on three key areas of focus: a skilled workforce; safe, affordable neighborhoods; and great pub- lic schools. Since Katrina, the Foundation’s Board and staff have embraced the role of devoting their efforts to achieving and measuring success in those areas.

  • LSU Hilltop Arboretum Master Plan
LSU Hilltop Arboretum Master Plan August 2017 HISTORY AND OVERVIEW Hilltop Arboretum was entrusted to Louisiana State University in 1981 as a gift from its former resident and creator, Emory Smith. Emory and his wife Annette lived a humble lifestyle at the Highland Road property for over 50 years. The land functioned as a working vegetable and livestock farm, however there is more to the story. Emory had a deep love for the plants of Louisiana and spent countless hours collecting native specimens along the Gulf Coast to grow and display on his property. He opened the farm to the public - including classes of students in landscape architecture - and provided walking trails throughout the planted ravines so as to share the enjoyment of his extensive collection. Today, under the careful guidance of the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture and the Friends of Hilltop Arboretum, Hilltop continues to carry on Emory’s legacy. Hilltop site circa 1941 MISSION The mission of the LSU Hilltop Arboretum is to provide a sanctuary where students and visitors can learn about natural systems, plants, and landscape design. SHARED VISION The LSU Hilltop Arboretum will be a nationally- recognized center for the study of plants and landscape design. Hilltop will build upon donor Emory Smith’s love for native Louisiana plants and sanctuary. Stewardship of Hilltop is shared by the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture and the Friends of Hilltop. Hilltop is an integral part of the School which uses the arboretum in its research, teaching, and service activities. Friends of Hilltop will provide education programs to engage the broader community, operational support, and fundraising activities.

  • Blayke in Woman's NICU
Reflections Development Annual Report 2013 Blayke in Woman’s NICU Mission To improve the health of women and infants Vision Together we are building a patient-centered community of extraordinary people and exceptional care Values Excellence Continually improving everything we do Commitment Showing pride in, loyalty to, and ownership of the mission of Woman’s Innovation Securing our future through creating new dimensions of performance Mutual Respect Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you Stewardship Carefully and responsibly managing the resources of Woman’s Sound Judgment Making timely decisions based on the information available Dear Friends, If I were to sketch a timeline of my life, Woman’s Hospital would invariably be there for many defining moments – my pregnancies and the births of my children, the compassion and assistance provided to me during my medical challenges, the education of my adolescent boys about their changing bodies, holding the hand of a friend through cancer, critical care, the many celebrations of friends and family – I truly consider Woman’s and its employees as family. Now, I’m proud to serve Woman’s as Chief Development Officer. Thus far, I have been blessed with a long, rewarding career in fundraising. On the outside, I have seen Woman’s good work reflected in my personal experiences. But on the inside, I now see the success of Woman’s programs reflected in our community, from the sick baby who survives and thrives thanks to our Human Donor Milk program to the sexual assault survivor who is now a community advocate.
