A Dedication to a Donor: Joy Williams

Joy Williams, a beautiful, sweet, compassionate, giving and sharing young woman, my sweet daughter. I can say that she was always thinking of others.

She was a donor. She wanted all of her organs to be used to help someone else have a good life. Joy loved the Lord Jesus with all of her being. During her illness, she never complained. …I am so thankful for all the good memories and the many stomach- hurting laughs we shared: "Mom, stand up straight," . is one of the many things I will remember every day I stand up.

Love, Mattie Richardson

Joy Love Williams’ for music led her to develop a side career as a wedding and gospel singer. But in November 2011 she was told her lungs were being damaged by a disease and her only was to receive a lung transplant.

Although weak and breathless, Joy remained unwavering in her , and held out hope that she would receive a double lung transplant and another chance to lift her voice in song. “I believe that my destiny is in my hands – God brings us causes based on purpose – this has helped me stay focused and hopeful,” Joy said.

Sadly, her call did not come. Joy passed away in the summer of 2014, just months after being added to the transplant waiting list.

A Rose remembering Joy will be placed in the Dedication Garden on the Donate Life “Never Ending Story” float for the Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1, 2015..
