Flourishing in a land of plenty, the vineyards alternate with aromatic herbs, lavender fields, truffle oaks and olive groves. Its wines are refined and delicious, mainly reds, with a range of savours from berry and plum through to spices and on to the more sophisticated notes of pepper, violet and truffle, signs of wines which will age well. Its fresh, fruity and elegant white wines and rosés play on delightful seduction. A secret wine garden lies in the heart of the Rhone Valley: the Grignan-les-Adhémar appellation. Its vineyards intermingle with lavender fields and truffle oak plantations, amidst a landscape of picturesque villages dating back hundreds of years with magnificent chateaux from the era of the cape and the sword. Here the wines combine the refined style of the north with the ripe, full-bodied fruitiness of the Drôme.

TOP 100 WINES - TOP 5 VARIETIES 9. Varietal rankings 17. Top 5 Country Reports President’s Letter 1 Vino-lovers rejoice! The world’s most awarded wines and wineries are now revealed in the much anticipated release of the 2017 World Rankings of Wines & Spirits report. We are excited to celebrate the release of the official report for the WRW&S 2017. This year we’ve evaluated a record number of wines, 700,930 to be exact, from the results of 80 international wine shows. The following report features the wines, wineries and wine producing nations who continue to demonstrate quality and consistency across these international competitions. As with previous years, we celebrate those producers who have achieved ‘Wine of the Year’ status by achieving more than 125 points over the past calendar year from these select 80 award shows. Along with the release of the 2017 results, we also launched a completely new website design, making it easier than ever before to find out which wines, wineries and countries are performing at top tier international wine competitions. We are already hard at work tabulating the results for the 2018 report, so keep your eye on the website for its release in early 2018.
