Cambridge Footlights International Tour Show 2014: “The most renowned sketch troupe of them all” The Independent Following years of critically-acclaimed sell-out runs, catch the Cambridge Footlights as they present their boldest tour show yet: Real Feelings. Starting with a two-week run of previews in Cambridge, the tour will travel to London, perform for a month at the Edinburgh Fringe, before three weeks of touring the United States, with shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other major cities. The Footlights are Britain’s most celebrated student comedy club, boasting past members such as Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson, Tim Key, Richard Ayoade and countless more. Returning to Edinburgh’s Pleasance AceDome, this year’s tour also coincides with the reunion with some of the Footlights’ most famous alumni: John Cleese, Eric Idle and the other members of Monty Python. Catch this year’s tour show to see why the Footlights remains “a seedbed for mighty comedic talents” (Time Out). Showcasing the work of the club’s most talented writers and performers, Real Feelings promises an outstanding array of sketches, surrealism and sharp new comedy. Daniels puts a hilarious spin on her unapologetic, soul-bearing tale of one girl’s journey from humiliation to liberation. I had writer's block and started flipping through Netflix. I came across Amy Schumer's The Leather Special. It had a one star rating, which intrigued me. I was curious to see how bad it was. Instead, I was blown away by how good it was. I watched in amazement as Amy performed with a new level of freedom, confidence and physicality. She had broken through to a new dimension as a comedian. It was truly awe inspiring. The content was honest, relatable and fucking hilarious. How the fuck did it only have one star? I couldn't figure it out. I assumed it might have something to do with her saying she would push a man off a mountain if he told her performing oral sex on women wasn't his thing. It was misogynistic men who'd given her special a shit rating. Let Amy Schumer Make You Feel Icky So Your Daughters Can Be Free I stuck with that conclusion until I talked to a girlfriend who told me she didn't like The Leather Special because it'd made her feel uncomfortable. She found it to be crude and icky.

Fusing live music, black comedy and grotesque cabaret, this late night show, staring Cristina Catalina, will leave you feeling titillated, tainted and unclean. This new twist on a classic tale is anarchic, riotous and sexy. The synergy of music and text is fundamental to the piece and the live original score by award-winning composer, Laurence Osborn (Tête-à-Tête Opera Company, English National Ballet), creates a dark and dirty atmosphere from full blown cabaret-style musical numbers to the creak of an opening door. After their much-anticipated Pagan Parade at Latitude Festival (The Independent 'One To Watch’), director Jessica Edwards and award-winning designer Joanna Scotcher (2011 WhatsOnStage Best Designer) collaborate to create an eerie and magical set which transports us from the world of St John's living room to the living breathing underbelly of the city. We begin as a curious manuscript of obscure origin changes hands. It tells the tale of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, a strange story of desire, destruction and dastardly experimentation. Worsfield, a back-room book dealer, is swiftly entranced and, flagrantly ignoring the horrors within, he is compelled to read to the end. Through this frame, we find ourselves in the company of two drunken friends - Henry Utterson, an upstanding lawyer, and Lawrence Enfield, a decadent man about town.
