Inconsolable since her husband died in the Crimean War, Dilys is gradually re-awakened to life when a prophet-like child working in her household is called by God to serve the world. In the wake of vast social inequality and a mismanaged war, one small community rediscovers its lost faith, with startling consequences for the village, and the world beyond… A parable about healing the wounds inflicted by a national trauma, The Wind of Heaven was first produced in the West End in April 1945, just three weeks before the end of the Second World War in Europe, starring Emlyn Williams himself.

EDITIOLNet Amy Schumer Make You Feel Icky So Your Daughters Can Be Free UK Ellyn Daniels Stand-up comic, writer, actor and model. THE BLOG Let Amy Schumer Make You Feel Icky So Your Daughters Can Be Free 20/07/2017 17:08 BST | Updated 20/07/2017 17:08 BST KEVORK DJANSEZIAN / REUTERS I was trying to write a show for The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I had writer's block and started flipping through Netflix. I came across Amy Schumer's The Leather Special. It had a one star rating, which intrigued me. I was curious to see how bad it was. Instead, I was blown away by how good it was. I watched in amazement as Amy performed with a new level of freedom, confidence and physicality. She had broken through to a new dimension as a comedian. It was truly awe inspiring. The content was honest, relatable and fucking hilarious. How the fuck did it only have one star? I couldn't figure it out. I assumed it might have something to do with her saying she would push a man off a mountain if he told her performing oral sex on women wasn't his thing. It was misogynistic men who'd given her special a shit rating. Let Amy Schumer Make You Feel Icky So Your Daughters Can Be Free I stuck with that conclusion until I talked to a girlfriend who told me she didn't like The Leather Special because it'd made her feel uncomfortable. She found it to be crude and icky.

Press Information ! ! VIBRANT NEW WRITING | UNIQUE REDISCOVERIES Summer Season – July–September 2017 The European premiere DOLPHINS AND SHARKS by James Anthony Tyler. Directed by Lydia Parker. Set and Costume Design by Anna Driftmier. Lighting by Ben Jacobs. Sound by Richard Bell. Presented by Over Here Theatre Company in association with Neil McPherson for the Finborough Theatre. Cast: Shyko Amos. Hermeilio Miguel Aquino. Miquel Brown. Ammar Duffus. Rachel Handshaw. “My first supervisor was a African girl named Ann, and she had the nerve to tell me that I don’t have a right to call myself African American. I had to tell that heffa just because your people sold my people doesn’t mean I don’t got African roots.” The European premiere from new African-American playwright James Anthony Tyler, Dolphins and Sharks opens at the Finborough Theatre for a three week limited season on Tuesday, 12 September 2017 (Press Nights: Thursday, 14 September and Friday, 15 September 2017 at 7.30pm). Yusuf needs a break – his philosophy degree from NYU isn't opening any doors, but his new job would help him pay his overdue rent; Xiomara doesn’t want to settle for the marriage scenario her Dominican mother keeps pushing on her; and Isabel needs her job to put three kids through school, but still manages to keep her sense of humour. All three are employees of Harlem Office, New York, a neighbourhood copy shop where promotions are rare, raises are even rarer, and racism is often on display. But when one staff member is given the chance to move up to manager, friendships are tested and loyalty turns out to be less valuable than cold hard cash.

  • Jekyll and Hyde
hh JEKYLL AND HYDE by Jonathan Holloway, based on the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson Assembly Roxy Downstairs, 2 Roxburgh Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9SO 10.45pm, Wednesday 31st July – Sunday 25th August 2013 Flipping the Bird, in association with Red Shift Theatre Company (who are celebrating their 30th anniversary), presents Fringe First award-winning writer Jonathan Holloway’s Jekyll & Hyde – a melodrama for a modern audience. Fusing live music, black comedy and grotesque cabaret, this late night show, staring Cristina Catalina, will leave you feeling titillated, tainted and unclean. This new twist on a classic tale is anarchic, riotous and sexy. The synergy of music and text is fundamental to the piece and the live original score by award-winning composer, Laurence Osborn (Tête-à-Tête Opera Company, English National Ballet), creates a dark and dirty atmosphere from full blown cabaret-style musical numbers to the creak of an opening door. After their much-anticipated Pagan Parade at Latitude Festival (The Independent 'One To Watch’), director Jessica Edwards and award-winning designer Joanna Scotcher (2011 WhatsOnStage Best Designer) collaborate to create an eerie and magical set which transports us from the world of St John's living room to the living breathing underbelly of the city. We begin as a curious manuscript of obscure origin changes hands. It tells the tale of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, a strange story of desire, destruction and dastardly experimentation. Worsfield, a back-room book dealer, is swiftly entranced and, flagrantly ignoring the horrors within, he is compelled to read to the end. Through this frame, we find ourselves in the company of two drunken friends - Henry Utterson, an upstanding lawyer, and Lawrence Enfield, a decadent man about town.
