    Kunst in Opdracht zevende expositie | Art Fund Nyenrode | januari - mei 2017 een unieke selectie uit de kunstcollectie van PostNL 1 Kunst en Nyenrode Het organiseren van kunstexposities op Nyenrode is onder de naam Art Fund Nyenrode begonnen als een klein initiatief van een bescheiden groep alumni, twee jaar geleden. Zij toonden zich enthousiaste kunstliefhebbers met veel ambitie en organiseerden destijds de eerste tentoonstelling met foto’s verzameld door een Nyenrode alumnus. Er had in de jaren daarvoor geen kunst gehangen aan de muren van het Albert Heijn gebouw, dus werden her en der aanpassingen gedaan Kunst in Opdracht om de ruimtes geschikt te maken voor exposities. Het bleek een dankbare investering want de Kunstzinnig verleden en heden ene tentoonstelling volgde de andere op. Museale stukken en soms zelfs kwetsbare kunstuitingen waren op onze gangen plotseling te bewonderen. Een aantal studenten ging zich verdiepen in de tentoongestelde kunst en ontpopten zich als gidsen We zijn zeer verheugd om met deze inmiddels zevende Art Fund Nyenrode tentoonstelling een voor de bezoekers. Dat was ook nieuw. Dit op zich was al een uitzonderlijke prestatie maar daar bedrijfskunstcollectie van een van Nyenrode’s Founding Father te kunnen tonen. Om juister te zijn bleef het niet bij. Het aanbod was zo interessant dat lezers van de Volkskrant zich in een oogwenk van een rechtsopvolger van de ‘Dienst der P.T.T.’, die in 1946 één van de 39 grondleggers was van wat inschreven voor exclusieve rondleidingen. Nyenrode werd een kleine galerie waarbij sommige kunst destijds het Nederlands Opleidings-Instituut voor het Buitenland heette. Nu inmiddels uitgegroeid tot ook te koop was – en ook gekocht werd.

    Pragmatics 10:1.39-59 (2000) International Pragmatics Association DOI: 10.1075/prag.10.1.02jaf COMIC PERFORMANCE AND THE ARTICULATION OF HYBRID IDENTITY Alexandra Jaffe Abstract This article describes how comedians and radio professionals in Corsica draw on a bilingual linguistic and metalinguistic cultural repertoire. In the context of Corsica’s history of language domination, language shift, and linguistic revitalization efforts, many of the products of language contact - mixed codes and compentences - are socially stigmatized. In the logic of dominant language ideologies, these mixed codes do not ‘count as’ language and depreciate individual speakers and collective identitities. Comic performances, it is argued, derive part of their tension and effect from the dominant view of languages as fixed and bounded codes which index single identities. Yet at the same time, performers make use of bilingual repertoires in ways that validate mixed language practices and identities. They do so by making maximal use of fluidity and indeterminacy in speaker stances towards mixed codes and identities. Bilingual comic performance also validates mixed codes and identities by evoking an ‘expert’ bilingual audience. Keywords: Performance, Corsica, humor, hybridity 1. Introduction In places like Corsica, the process of culture contact and language shift produces complex, blended and multilayered linguistic and cultural identities and practices. In this paper, I explore a particular kind of verbal art: Public bilingual comic media interactions and performances. In these performances, I examine two kinds of communicative strategies. First, there is the way that media professionals and performers in these contexts manipulate, for creative purposes, conventional (dominant) ideologies of language in which languages are viewed as fixed and bounded codes which directly index equally bounded identities.

    May 09, 2011 16:41 BST Eurovision Odds Suggest France Is The Country To Beat In The 2011 Eurovision Song Contest The 59th Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany, on Saturday 14th May 2011 with France the favourite to win this year’s show with the song, Sognu, by Amaury Vassili. At the age of 21, Vassili is the youngest professional tenor in the world and is looking to provide the French with its first win in the competition since 1977 with his unique and emotive performance of his song which is only the second ever in the history of Eurovision to be sung entirely in Corsican. Bookmakers Eurovision Odds already suggest that it’s France’s competition to lose with Vassili the 13/8 favourite to win having been backed in from as big as 33/1 in recent weeks. The United Kingdom is second favourite to win with their entry from multi award winning boyband, Blue, at odds of 6/1. The recently reformed group, which split up in 2005 are back together and will perform the catchy track ‘I Can’ in the hope of giving the UK its sixth win in the competition and first Eurovision success since Katrina and the Waves won with ‘Love Shine a Light’ in 1997. Ireland holds the record for the number of Eurovision wins with seven and Jedward are this year’s representatives for the Emerald Isle. Twins, John and Edward will perform their song ‘Lipstick’ which is sure to be popular amongst voters across Europe with an already strong fan base having shot to fame on reality TV show, the X Factor and can be backed to win at odds as big as 20/1.
