Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union Ltd Handbook 2017-2018 Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union Ltd Handbook 2017-2018 Published by: Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union Ltd The Oxfordshire RFU Volunteer Recognition Programme was launched in 2017. Please nominate your club volunteers that deserve recognition directly to the ORFU Secretary Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union Ltd Handbook 2017-2018 President Rob Walsh Published by: The Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union Ltd Edited by: Sub-Committee ORFU Website Http://oxfordshirerfu.pitchero.com 1 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It is a great honour and privilege to have been elected as County President. What a season Oxfordshire have just had, I was fortunate enough to watch one of the most exciting County Cup fnals played at Iffey Road, between Banbury and Oxford University Greyhounds. That game showed that County Cup Rugby is alive and thriving in Oxfordshire. This was followed by a fantastic day at Twickenham where the County 1st XV won the Bill Beaumont Shield. I look forward to meeting as many as possible, of the incredibly large army of volunteers that make rugby happen, from Minis to Vets in Oxfordshire during my term as President. Good luck to all of our teams. Enjoy your season. • Edition 10: 20Th September 2013
Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.

However, the financial performance depended heavily on healthy investment returns in the year which contributed an income of £188m and for a second year, the operating surplus fell short of the University’s key financial target of at least 5% of total income. The University faces a period of economic uncertainty as the UK government negotiates an exit from the European Union and will need to manage resources efficiently if it is to maintain a pre-eminent position amongst the world’s leading universities.
