The objectives of Eastern Counties Rugby Union (ECRU) as per the constitution are “To promote, encourage and extend the Game throughout the County including (but not limited to) the coaching thereof, its development in schools and at all youth levels and the recruitment, administration and training of referees.” I will support the relevant committees, to achieve these objectives. It is my aim, with my driver/wife, Sherry to attend all clubs during my two-year tenure, and I will contact clubs well in advance, but, if your club has any functions that you would like me to attend, then please contact me as early as possible, as I’m sure my diary will soon fill up Being a founder member of Lakenham RFC, now Lakenham Hewett, and having served time in every committee post, I do know the problems of the day to day running of a rugby club. As a player, I represented Norfolk at School Colts and 1st XV level, Team Secretary 1982-88 and finally President 1996-97. I joined the ECRU committee in 2002, as the Norfolk County Representative, served on the Blackman Committee, now Community Rugby (2000-03), I have chaired Club ECRU (2003-11), CBRDP (2005-11) and School of Rugby (2008-11). I have also served on the Competitions and Finance committees and have represented ECRU on the London & South-East Management committee. I have been the Administrator, for all the leagues in London & SE division since 2012. I wish you all a competitive and enjoyable season in our great sport. 6 | Page EASTERN COUNTIES RUGBY UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE 2017-2018 MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE President Ian Forton (2017) 183 Middletons Lane Norwich NR6 5SB ☎ 01603 400 049 07878 821524 ✉ [email protected] Chairman Alasdair Bovaird (2014) ☎ 01799 523 578 07711 484 582 ✉ [email protected] Hon Secretary Roger Pierson (2005) 81 Rectory Lane, Poringland NR14 7SJ ☎ 01508 493 085 07974 619 114 ✉ [email protected] Hon Treasurer/Chair Finance & Funding Pamela Clarke (2012) 162 Angel Rd Norwich NR3 3JB 07775 523 689 ✉ [email protected] Cambs Representative TBA ✉ [email protected] 8 | Page Norfolk Representative John Langford (Interim) ☎ 01052 568 836 07958 735 075 ✉ [email protected] Suffolk Representative Robert Temple (2015) ☎ 01502 723 051 07917 025 463 ✉ [email protected] RFU Council Member Roger Pierson (2005) 81 Rectory Lane, Poringland NR14 7SJ ☎ 01508 493 085 07974 619 114 ✉ [email protected] Chair of Club Development John Winders (2011) ☎ 01473 824 359 07972 388 028 ✉ [email protected] Chair of Marketing and Communication Russ Clarke (2014) 162 Angel Rd Norwich NR3 3JB 07766 315 506 ✉ [email protected] 9 | Page Chair of Governance including Competitions, Discipline and Safeguarding Richard Watson (2005) ☎ 01449 674 891 ✉ [email protected] Chair of CB Club/Community Player Pathway Development Group (CCPD) Ross Cowie (2011) 07786 332 930 ✉ [email protected] OTHER OFFICIALS Chair of Discipline sub committee Declan Gallagher (2015) ☎ 01284 701 131 07930 538 907 ✉ [email protected] Chair of Coaching sub committee Chris Capps-Jenner (2013) 07917 771 392 ✉ [email protected] Referees Representative TBA 10 | Page International Ticket Administrator Ian Forton

Colours: Red & Black Chairman’s Foreword Welcome to the new County Handbook which I hope you will find to be a useful source of valuable information about our County and our Clubs. I hope that you find the fixture lists a useful feature, enabling you to support our Bucks Clubs. Please also refer to our Website: bucksrfu.pitchero.com This site holds all the relevant information and news about Bucks Rugby. Please contact the Webmaster if you have any information or news that needs to be shared. Remember, the website is only as good as its content so let’s all contribute! The season 2015/16 was again a huge success for Rugby in the County with the Bucks U 20 XV reaching the semi-final of the county plate competition and the senior XV also getting to the semi- final of their competition. This is the furthest either team have reached in the County’s history. As a County we seem to produce some very talented players, and this is very much down to the Clubs and Schools in our area being “Development” focused and ensuring that the most talented get the exposure they deserve. We intend as County to continue this theme every season and ensure that as many players as possible have the opportunity to play at their highest potential level.

Seasonal felicitations to you all & welcome back to Silver Leys for our first game of the New Year, one which holds great promise for our club. Welcome also to the players, officials and supporters of todays opponents Cinderford RFC. ‘2016’ has received a lot of bad press but it was pretty good to us! Bonus point victories in our last four games whilst others surprisingly dropped points, meant we finished the year on top of the heap, which was an unexpected and very pleasant early Christmas present. Last time out here we overcame a spirited Exmouth team 38-7. They certainly didn’t play like they were bottom of the table, which illustrates the competitive nature of this league. In the pre-Christmas game at Bury St Edmunds, our large and vociferous band of travelling supporters helped negate any benefit the Suffolk side may have expected by being at home. Ultimately though games are won and lost on the pitch and once again our guys produced a polished performance to run out comfortable 33-16 winners.
