The main front door leads into an impressive hallway with the original flagstone flooring. Leading on the right into the dining room, which also benefits from large sash bay windows allowing much light into the room, with polished wooden flooring reportedly imported at the time of construction from the Palace of Versailles. The working fireplace uniquely features a second window within the chimney breast above the hearth. This is a unique character feature to the property, and also features a large, impressive central chandelier. There are traditional wooden window shutters within. The morning/sitting room is tastefully decorated for the period of the property, and is a light room with bespoke radiator covers. There is a further abundance of useful outbuildings at this property, including a steel portal farme/brick building formerly used as a helicopter hanger & workshop; further traditional brick agricultural buildings in good order, with full planning permission granted for conversion into 4 new residential dwellings. 6 Equestrian Use & Potential The property has a huge amount of potential for equestrian use. With the existing buildings in place, of quality, sound brick construction with good floors; existing large agricultural buildings and standing timber stable, the possibilities are endless. The existing stable block has been recently updated, with 12 loose boxes looking over an all-weather turnout area. Adjacent to this is a further large steel portal frame building, which has the potential to form super internal stabling. The traditional brick outbuildings have previously been used for stud stabling and have many original features. There is a sizeable amount of hard standing between the buildings, with potential for horse walkers, lorry parking and turning, amongst many other things. The outriding at the property is excellent, with a good range of country lanes and bridle path routes nearby. The land is naturally light and well drained, meaning that cross country schooling, hacking and riding around the estate would be superb, with a good number of mature well established hedgerows and natural fences alike. The farm is currently kept partly in-hand and also in part under an arable rotation, currently let out on a Farm Business Tenancy; which may be continued or brought back in hand if so desired. 7 The outbuildings and agricultural buildings have been well maintained, and where necessary reroofed, and restored to a high standard. The Implementation and Impact of the Reformation in Shropshire, 1545-1575

The Implementation and Impact of the Reformation in Shropshire, 1545-1575 Elizabeth Murray A thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts United Faculty of Theology The Melbourne College of Divinity October, 2007 Abstract Most English Reformation studies have been about the far north or the wealthier south-east. The poorer areas of the midlands and west have been largely passed over as less well-documented and thus less interesting. This thesis studying the north of the county of Shropshire demonstrates that the generally accepted model of the change from Roman Catholic to English Reformed worship does not adequately describe the experience of parishioners in that county. Acknowledgements I am grateful to Dr Craig D’Alton for his constant support and guidance as my supervisor. Thanks to Dr Dolly Mackinnon for introducing me to historical soundscapes with enthusiasm. Thanks also to the members of the Medieval Early Modern History Cohort for acting as a sounding board for ideas and for their assistance in transcribing the manuscripts in palaeography workshops. I wish to acknowledge the valuable assistance of various Shropshire and Staffordshire clergy, the staff of the Lichfield Heritage Centre and Lichfield Cathedral for permission to photograph churches and church plate. Thanks also to the Victoria & Albert Museum for access to their textiles collection. The staff at the Shropshire Archives, Shrewsbury were very helpful, as were the staff of the State Library of Victoria who retrieved all the volumes of the Transactions of the Shropshire Archaeological Society. I very much appreciate the ongoing support and love of my family.
