Si tratta del secondo appuntamento della nona stagione dell’Ept, che vede sfidarsi ai tavoli i più forti ed affermati giocatori professionisti di tutto il mondo. I players iscritti al torneo hanno permesso di totalizzare un montepremi totale pari a 3.865.450 euro, che si spartiranno i 120 giocatori più bravi e fortunati che riusciranno a superare le partite dei primi giorni di gioco. L’11 ottobre si disputerà l’attesissimo Final Table che consacrerà il vincitore. Sono presenti giocatori provenienti da tutto il mondo. Ci sono players che provengono da Stati Uniti, Canada, Messico, Argentina, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Portogallo, Francia, Inghilterra, Germania, Finlandia, Norvegia, Spagna, Grecia, Svizzera, Israele e naturalmente Italia, anche se si registra una contrazione nella presenza dei giocatori nazionali. Raffrontando, infatti, gli iscritti nelle due tappe dell’European Poker Tour del 2011 il calo degli italiani è stato del 50 per cento, a fronte dell’aumento dei giocatori russi, dell’Est ed americani rispettivamente pari al 40 per cento. In due anni il Pokerstars.it Ept Sanremo si è consacrato come evento a valenza mondiale, un appuntamento imperdibili per i grandi pokeristi, dato importante che sancisce l’affermazione del torneo. Sono mancati, altresì, proprio gli italiani che ad aprile 2011 rappresentavano il 50% degli iscritti, con 438 players e che oggi sono 213, un dato che rispecchia anche l’andamento turistico nazionale e provinciale. La Riviera dei fiori ha visto nell’estate 2012 un aumento esponenziale delle presenze ricettive straniere a fronte della contrazione di quelle nazionali, che risentono fortemente Riviera24 - 1 / 2 - 02.10.2021 2 della crisi in atto e della contrazione dei consumi e delle spese . Nonostante i pokeristi italiani rimasti a casa e che il Casinò aspetta per i tanti tornei giornalieri, le iscrizioni sono rimaste in linea con quelle del 2011, segno che l’Ept Sanremo è un evento internazionale, un risultato che ha importanti ricadute turistiche ed economiche ma anche di promozione del comprensorio e che premia il grande impegno profuso e le scelte fatte. A sottolineare l’importanza di questa tappa anche la presenza dei PRO PokerStars : Vanessa Selbst, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker, Lex Veldhuis, Jason Mercier, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Vanessa Rousso, Luca Pagano, Dario Minieri, Massimiliano Martinez, Pier Paolo Fabretti, Salvatore Bonavena. Intanto l’Ept ha il suo primo vincitore. Il prestigioso torneo denominato "IPT High Roller" è stato centrato da Marc – Andre Ladouceour che ha sconfitto nell’heads up conclusivo Alexander Roumeliotis. Den Großteil seines Stacks büßte er mit Pocketqueens ein, nachdem die Chips vor dem Flop in die Mitte wanderten und sein Gegner im Showdown [King of clubs] [King of hearts] umdrehte. 35.000 blieben dem Team-PokerStars-Pro noch, doch er schaffte es tatsächlich, diesen Stapel im weiteren Verlauf wieder auf 200.000 aufzubauen und die Moneybubble sicher zu überstehen. Die letztlich entscheidende Hand wird dem Kanadier aber noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben. Gleich vier Spieler sahen den Flop mit [Ten of hearts] [Nine of diamonds] [Four of hearts] und Brian Rast feuerte 65.000 in die Mitte. Ganz nach vorn reichte es für die meisten von ihnen allerdings nicht. Luca Pagano schied auf Platz 149 aus, Mikkelsen wurde 138. (beide kassierten USD 3.340), Freddy Deeb 80. (USD 6.012) und Isaac Haxton erwischte es auf Rang 66 (USD 7.014). Kanter und Wong werden wir dagegen am Final Table wiedersehen. 2005 bekam Aaron Kanter den Spitznamen „The Big Killer“ verpasst. Er spielte damals einen sensationellen Main Event und bugsierte unter anderem Titelverteidiger Greg Raymer sowie Phil Ivey aus dem Turnier. Damals hatte er sich online qualifiziert, belegte schließlich den vierten Platz und kassierte USD 2.000.000 Preisgeld. Zwar spielte er auch danach immer wieder Liveturniere, sein Geld verdient er allerdings weiter beim Onlinepoker. Am Freitag machte er jetzt aber wieder bei der WSOP auf sich aufmerksam und hat den Sprung an den Finaltisch beim USD 1.500 No-Limit Hold’em geschafft. Mit 200.000 in Chips ist er allerdings der Shortstack und hat zudem harte Konkurrenz. Danny Wong aus Los Angeles zum Beispiel, der in seiner noch jungen Karriere schon fast zwei Millionen an Preisgeldern abgeräumt hat. Darunter ein zweiter Platz beim Main Event des Bellagio Cup II im Jahr 2006 für USD 561.115 sowie Siege beim Five Diamond World Poker Classic und bei der Turnierserie Legends of Poker 2007.
