Car sales jumped 20 percent, nearly twice the rate of increase in 2015. Much of this vigorous expansion resulted from the country’s temporary suspension of sales taxes for cars with small engines. Volatility continued in 2017: A large drop early in the year reflected Exhibit 1 China’s auto market rebounded to a 20% sales volume growth Passenger car1 sales volume YoY growth Million cars % 22 23 20 19 17 16 16 15 13 13 11 11 11 6 2010 11 12 13 14 15 2016 1 Including sedan, MPV, SUV SOURCE: McKinsey M-view the impact of strong “pull ahead” sales in December 2016, as many consumers sought to take advantage of a lower sales tax rate before an increase took effect on January 1, 2017. However, sales growth eventually picked up again over the course of the year. While the recent resurgence in sales represents one of the most dramatic shifts in China’s automotive market, a variety of other factors are at play that will drive even more profound changes in the industry over the coming years. Perhaps the biggest of these changes involves the transformation taking place among car buyers.

  • 2018 PRESS June 25, 2018 Announcing the Exhibitors for This Year's Salon Art + Design 11 Countries Will Be Represented at This Year's Fair; Here Are the Details
2018 PRESS June 25, 2018 Announcing the Exhibitors for This Year's Salon Art + Design 11 countries will be represented at this year's fair; here are the details By Hadley Keller An aerial shot of the 2017 Salon Art + Design. Photo: Peter Baker During the cold months in New York, aesthetes know there's no better place to catch great design than the Park Avenue Armory. Between October and January, several fairs bring the best in art, antiques, and design to the historic Upper East Side venue. One perennial favorite is the Salon Art + Design, which focuses on furniture and design from the 19th through 21st centuries. Running November 8 through 12, this year's iteration—the seventh—is set to be the best yet. Fifty-six galleries from 11 countries will show wares ranging from Art Nouveau furniture to contemporary art—all of which is sure to be presented in thoughtfully outfitted booths. "Few fairs today include the range of both fine and decorative arts found at the Salon," says executive director Jill Bokor. "Recognizing the desire of collectors and interior designers to create environments rather than simply amass objects, the Salon exhibitors are chosen for their precise and creative way of presenting material that both predicts and reflects trends in the international culture of living. Ultimately, the Salon is curated on the premise that collectors and designers insist on a vibrant, uncommon array of styles, materials, and periods as long as the quality is impeccable." AD PRO got an exclusive look at the participant list. Below, the 30 international and 26 U.S.

  • Annual Report 2017-2018
2 0 1 ANNUAL REPORT 7 Securing California’s economy through employee advancement and customized worker training - Barry Broad, Chairperson Janice Roberts, Vice-Chairperson Gloria Bell, Member Cheryl Akin, Member Gretchen Newsom, Member 1 Ernesto Morales, Member Ali Tweini, Member Rick Smiles, Member Stewart Knox, Executive Director Peter Cooper, Assistant Director Jill McAloon, Chief Deputy Director Tara Armstrong, Deputy Director 8 Michael Cable, Legal Counsel The Employment Training Panel (ETP) is pleased to present the Annual Report for 2017- 18 which offers a year in review of our small agency with a big impact on California’s economy. ETP plays a key role in funding training to ensure California employers have the support to hire, train, and retain highly skilled workers in order to be competitive in the global economy. Consistent with the goals and objectives of ETP’s Strategic Plan, working with its partners, ETP has made great strides to support high unemployment areas, apprenticeship training, veteran and disabled worker training, priority industries and small businesses - all areas of high economic impact. With a high demand for rigorous apprenticeship training programs, ETP has expanded its apprenticeship training program since its inception in 2012. ETP has awarded nearly $75 million in the last six years to serve 45,000 trainees. In the coming fiscal year, ETP forecasts an increasing need for skilled workers and anticipates a large influx of apprenticeship contracts hitting record highs. A large focus throughout the year has been to engage employers in high unemployment areas (HUAs) providing additional training funds to offset the economic lag in rural areas, primarily in the Central Valley.
