Dolakha Food Security Cluster Meeting Minutes
Dolakha 25th May 2015
The first formal Food Security cluster meeting was held in Dolakha on 25.05.2015 in the Plan International Office.
The agencies currently working in the relief work vis-à-vis the food security shared their updates. Further, the same agencies need to share/supply the information to the cluster lead (sheet attached).
A total of 9133 MT standing crops is expected to be damaged in the district due to earthquake. 267 MT of seeds also damaged. There is soon paddy seeds requirements. FAO has agreed to support 10 MT. Since, seeds might not be available locally and that there is a legal barrier for its import, this issue needs to be taken at higher level. Alternatively, farmers could be motivated to go through the alternative crops and that planning needs to be done accordingly.
There might be food insecurity situation in the northern VDC following an onset of monsoon. Hence, an establishment of a food storage facility at Charikot Bazar is felt-need. Agencies working on food security are requested to work on it.
DADO office will organize to distribute 2480 vegetable see composite seeds packets
FAO will supply super grain bag for the storage purpose to the affected households which are critical needs to store food and seed
LIBIRD will assist 1mt paddy seed in addition to 10mt that will be assisted from DADO Office
SDC is planning to distribute food item to Bulung, orang, lamabagar, Gaurishankhar , Khare , Chankhu , Marbu VDCs to 5000households
