PREFACE A REV This b ook seeks to trace the descendants in merica of . BAR ROL WILLIAM L, of Hereford , England , who , after he was hn ’ 1 5 graduated from St . Jo s College , Cambridge , in 7 7, was 1 5 1 60 ordained a priest in the Church of England in 7 9 . In 7 he 90 was invited by his uncle , Rev . Hugh Jones , then years of age , A A . who himself held the degrees of . B and M , from Oxford University, and who was then the venerable rector of North Sassafras Parish , in Cecil County, Md . , to come to Maryland and succeed him in his rectorship . The young clergyman , at 26 e 1 0 that time years of age , r ached Maryland in the year 76 . He succeeded his uncle as rector and a year later intermarried with An n Williamson . From this union have descended the Barrolls m A here enu erated and now living in merica . - . WILLIAM a came to America . Frequent references are m de to books and of um . copies wills , deeds , mon ents , etc , and there may seem to be needless repetition of such references , but this is done because all statements relating to family history and pedigrees are ifi valueless un less each fact as stated can be ver ed . n in The cou ty of Hereford , the west of England, on the border o h of Wales , adjoins Shr ps ire on the north, Worcestershire on o the northeast and east , Gl ucestershire on the southeast, Mon m u h hire on k dn o t s the southwest , and Brec nockshire and Ra or shire , both in Wales , on the west and northwest . The hills of Malvern constitute a kind of natural boundary on the east and the Hatterell (Black) mountains present a formidable b arrier on the west . o 221 1 1 un The county c mprises parishes , in h dreds ; two bor ou h s eble fiv e g , Leominster and Wo y ; and market towns , Ross , n Ledbury, Ki gston , Bromyard and Pembridge .
