About the University

Gautam Buddha University, established by the Act (9) of 2002, commenced its first academic session at its 511acres lush green campus at in August 2008. The University is fully funded by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), the undertakings of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The University envisions to become a world class centre for excellence in education with a special focus to serve the under privileged and economically challenged sections of the society. The campus is modeled as a fully residential educational campus in line with the best institutions of higher learning across the globe. The uniqueness of its reputation is acknowledged through the format, content and pedagogy of its programmes and their relevance to the society. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission under UGC Act and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities.

School of Management

The School of Management was established during the academic year 2008-09, with 120 students in its first batch of MBA. Since then, it has been marching on with an integrated focus on exploring and creating new avenues for young aspirants through strategic collaborations with institutions and enterprises of national and international repute. The school has state of the art classrooms equipped with computing facilities and supported by an extensive library of books, journals, films & databases. The curriculum of all its academic activities has international and cross cultural focus. At present, the school offers three programmes in management:

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences has an interdisciplinary approach training. It plays the pivotal role of exposing the students to an environment that is conducive to develop understanding of contemporary social issues through inter-relationship of science, technology and management. The school has a unique and distinctive role in hosting creative educational programmes that focus on creating holistic understanding of complexities of life in social context with emphasis on Indian cultural values and Buddhist ethics. The academic programmes, designed in line with the best universities around the world, combine the best practices of pedagogy and class room teaching, complemented by practical training and experiential learning. The School of Vocational Studies and Applied Sciences was established to inculcate and promote an inquisitive thinking towards science and its applicability in various interdisciplinary subjects amongst young minds of today and tomorrow. The school is committed to provide cutting edge technology and research in partnership with the industries, laboratories and institutes of national and international repute. The School of Vocational Studies & Applied Sciences comprises the primary disciplines of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics along with two inter disciplinary subjects namely Environmental Science, and Food Processing & Technology.

The University has started its ambitious multidisciplinary academic programmes with the establishment of its School of Law, Justice & Governance. The School has been established for the advancement of learning, teaching, research and diffusion of knowledge in the fields of law, justice and governance.

The compulsory subjects prescribed by the Bar Council of are to be taught with subjects underscoring the interface between law, justice and governance. Given the fact that law does not exist in vacuum, the emphasis is to investigate its linkages with politics, history and society for accomplishing the cherished goal of a well-ordered and just society. Through clinical legal education, the aim is to blend the theoretical knowledge with practical learning and the development of skills and right professional attitude. The subjects are shaped with great care to make them knowledge and skills-oriented.

The School also provides an opportunity to explore the undiscovered nuances of the legal profession and to engage in setting new standards in legal education. The approach is to impart the education of law and governance with the needs of the time.

School of Buddhist Studies and Civilization is a consequential nucleus for the academic research and discourses leading to the promotion of peace and harmony guided by the Buddhist ethics and human values. The very quintessence of Buddhist ethics and their practices in our world are torn apart by conflict, hatred and violence and thus have lost its due recognition. Therefore the research and practices carried out at the School reinforce respect for the Buddhist tradition and appreciation for its benevolent values and profound spiritual emancipation. The research and other courses offered in the School intertwine together the diverse theories in Buddhism and their expressions in our life, mediating a meaningful inclusion of Buddhist values in our cultural, social and intellectual assumptions. It stands out as an effort to revitalize the Buddhist ethics and practices which find immense significance in the modern context. The University encourages comparative studies of Buddhism vis-à-vis other major religions and philosophies of the world with an attempt to understand how the various Buddhist movements across the world have helped the societies in their emergence, for instance the Dalit Buddhist Movement in India. Bodhisattva Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Library The soul of academic and research activities of GBU. The library is fully automated and functional with the RFID system in place. With a huge volumes of books and e-journals, the library is well equipped with modern facilities, spacious stack halls, 2000 seating capacity reading hall, reference sections, catalogue area, and multiple loaning counters. The library aims to “provide high quality services in support of the teaching and research objectives of the University communities”.

Corporate Relations Cell

Corporate Relations Cell (CRC) of Gautam Buddha University (GBU) is dedicated in advising and counselling students over career relative matters. CRC is the primary tool for the students to branch out of their classrooms and explore and experiment the classroom learning. By keeping up with the latest trends and providing the latest information to the students, CRC works in direction of finding best opportunities like summer training/internships, live projects, national and international events and employment vacancies for students. The Manager, Corporate Relations & the CRC team keeps a constant liaison with the various academia and Corporate establishments. CRC acts as an interface between the students, faculty, and the corporate world. CRC engages into continuous interaction with the industry, bringing and sharing the industry experiences to the campus, and understanding the industry needs and requirements.

University is in the process of formalizing tie-ups and mutual accreditations with many universities in UK, France, Finland, Netherlands, , Denmark and USA. In this regard in the past the University has signed MoUs with the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, the International Business Academy, Kolding Denmark, Metropolitan University, UK, and Sheffield Hallam University, UK.

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Meditation Centre Inspired by peace and inner silence, the centre organizes seminars, lectures and experiential workshop in meditation, positive values, stress free living and self management. It aims to help the residents at campus in recognizing their own inherent qualities and recollect their inner most potential. The meditation centre facilitates the experience of the inner self through silence. University Auditorium

The grandiose Central auditorium with the capacity of 3000 seating is a phenomenal place. Apart from other Six auditoriums of the university and other two auditoriums built in along side this mammoth structure, this state-of-the-art auditorium is equipped with all kinds of advanced audio-video technologies. The auditorium facilitates the academic as well as extracurricular activities at the University. Convention Centre and Guest House

The centrally air conditioned building has state of the art convention centre conference halls, committee rooms, more than 40 suits and a huge central hall. In addition to Convention Centre, the University Guest House situated adjacent to the building house 100 well furnished rooms with huge open area and a lush green lawn at the centre of the building. Central Computer Centre

The Central Computer Centre (CCC) helps in initiating, controlling and regulating the IT support services at university level. The centre envisions executing activities to meet its objective, which are Development of State-of-art Data Centre, In-house hosting of different IT application & servers, Complete WI-FI coverage in the campus, Internet bandwidth 100 Mbps to each school & 1 GBPS at CCC, Development of higher end video conferencing system, 500 computers with high speed internet connectivity available 24x7 for students, Imparting training on latest IT Software & Technology to the Faculty members as well as staff of Gautam Buddha University.

Students’ Accommodation and Hostel Facilities The University is a fully residential campus, which has separate hostel accommodations for boys and girls with 5000 single seated hostel rooms and complete wi-fi premises. There are three women’s hostels named ad Savitri Bai Phule Women’s Hostel, Rama Bai Ambedkar Women’s Hostel, an Mahamaya Women’s Hostel and six men’s hostels named as Shri Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Men’s Hostel, Shri Narayan Guru Men’s Hostel, Sant Ravi Das Men’s Hostel, Sant Kabir Das Men’s Hostel, Birsa Munda Men’s Hostel and Guru Ghasi Das Men’s Hostel. These hostel complexes have state of the art facilities. To enable the students to spend quality time in the University each Gymnasium, Badminton Court and Basketball Court. Each room in the hostel is provided with an internet connection. In addition to this each hostel houses a medical and a visiting room. All the hostels are supported by the solar system which helps in the supply of hot water in winter.

Sports Activities The university promotes multi dimensional growth with emphasis on an integrated physical and intellectual training. The Eklavya Sports Complex spread over 58 acres with indoor and outdoor stadium of global standards, equipped with state of art sports facilities to shape health and sports aspirations of the students. It has an Olympic size swimming pool with an additional practice track and a world class gymnasium, Hockey Stadium, Football Stadium & Cricket Stadium. Shauryotsav, annual sports meet aims at motivating students participate and add physical extensions to their intellectual quests.

Cultural Activities Culture is the widening of mind and sprits, which is well displayed by the students of Gautam Buddha University. The beauty of every culture is enhanced by the minds that practice it. GBU’s annual cultural events Abhivyanjana intend to add wings to intellect, imagery, and creativity of our students. It aims at dissolving the cultural demarcation and facilitating a new school of thought where every student thinks beyond boundaries but still grounded to one’s values. It also gives a platform to the buddy managers and compels them to think out of the box. The University Cultural Council is very vibrant and patronizes a number of activity clubs and provides students with perfect platform for their creative expressions.
