Three Mastodon Greats Inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

On December 3, th e IPFW Athletics Dep artment inducted its seventh class into th e Athletic Hall of Fame- with three f orm er Mastodon greats. Join us in congratulating the deserving inductees: Dan Gebhart '78 from men's basketball an d athletics administration, Juan Diaz '8 7 from men's soccer, and Heather Teagarden '96 f rom women 's volleyball.

Gebhart was a two-year captain on the IPFW basketball team in 1975-76 and 1976- 77, where he scored 416 career points while pulling dowri 200 rebounds . But his even bigger contributions to the school came after graduation . He has worked at IPFW for 32 years, 20 of those in the Ath letics Department.

Gebhart served in many roles during his time as an administrator at IPFW, including associate athletic director for operations, where he was tournament director for three NCAA Division I Men 's Volleyball Tournaments (1 988, 1994, and 2000). The 1994 tournament attendance of 15,495 still ranks as the second -best attended Final Four in NCAA Men 's Volleyball history.

"I'm honored , humbled , and a little awestruck by my selection to the IPFWAth letics Hall of Fame ," said Gebhart. Hall of Fame Inductees (left to l'ight): Dan Gebhart '78 from men's basketball and Diaz is the men 's soccer program career assist leader with 28 , and led the team in athletics administration, Heather Teagarden '96 from women's volleyball, and assists three seasons (1 983, 1984, and 1986). He earned All -Great Lakes Valley Juan Diaz '87 from men's soccer. Conference (GLVC) honors in 1984, 1985, and 1986, and hi s 12 assists in 1984 are stil l a school record for a single season . 1995, and her teams had a combined record of 87 -59 , including back-to-back In addition to aiding in scores, Diaz was also proficient in finding the back of the net GLVC Championships . Teagarden currently ranks fourth in career kil ls (1, 668) and tenth himself, scoring 33 career goals and leading the team in the category in 1985. in career digs (1, 126 ) at IPFW.

Teagarden is one of just six players in IPFW women 's volleyball history to reach the 1, 000-kill and 1, 000-dig plateaus . She was named AII -GLVC in 1993, 1994, and
