Redevelopment Project at Credit Valley Hospital: Phase 3 Highlights The completion of the Credit Valley Hospital Phase 3 Redevelopment Project marks the end of a 20 year expansion plan. The project was made possible as a result of $117.6 million from the Government of , and over $24.3 million in donations from over 8,000 generous community donors.

Today’s event marks the official completion of a 20 year expansion plan that included: the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre completed in 2005 (Phase 1), the Regional Women’s and Children’s Health Centre completed in 2011 (Phase 2), and now Phase 3 which focused on the emergency department, diagnostic imaging, critical care, and surgical spaces.

Project Quick Facts • 187,000 square feet of existing space was renovated, and 20,000 square feet of new space was added to better accommodate our growing community • Redeveloped areas include the emergency department, diagnostic imaging, critical care and surgical spaces • All redeveloped areas feature enhanced waiting rooms to better support privacy and the physical and mental wellbeing of our patients. Some areas also feature specific spaces for children and seniors • New state-of-the art Diagnostic Imaging equipment, to efficient and accurate results for patients • During construction approximately 70 workers worked on the project each day. As a result of this expansion approximately 60 new jobs were created at THP Emergency Department Features • 30,000+ square feet of renovated and new modernized space • More private triage area upon arrival • 22 private patient treatment areas for assessment and treatment • Increased privacy in all areas of the Emergency Department • Child and senior friendly care zones • Mental health area with appropriate privacy and security • Reclining chairs in waiting areas for patients • A comfort station to warm up food and drinks • Ear, nose and throat area with an electronic eye testing system • Large covered ambulance garage with space for 6 ambulances • Dedicated paramedic triage area • Acute and resuscitation area Diagnostic Imaging Features • Expanded Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound Suites with modernized equipment • Michèle S. Darling Women’s Imaging & Assessment Centre for breast cancer patients in our community

• X-Ray suite with enhanced technology • Computed Tomography (CT) suite with two new high accuracy CT scanners • 10 private ultrasound test rooms • 10 new recovery beds • Redesigned patient registration and waiting areas create better sight lines for staff Critical & Intensive Care Features • Relocated 5 Coronary Care Unit (CCU) beds into a new unit, with modern technology and new comforts for patients and families • 24 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), which includes 5 new beds, with improved privacy and natural light • 6 negative pressure isolation rooms in the ICU, previously 2, with automatic doors and a wave enter to prevent the spread of bacteria • Art installations above each bed to support the overall healing and wellness of patients Surgical Program Redevelopment • 12 new and renovated operating suites • 20 new Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) for recovery and 16 day surgery spaces • New state of the art equipment including a new medical device for robotics assisted surgery • Renovated spaces to support patient privacy and staff efficiency • Improved space for medical residents to observe and learn
