Hart, Jr.* Recently franchised cable television operators across the country are look- ing for ways to expedite delivery of transmission service and reduce the ex- pense of constructing broadband systems. At the same time, the telephone industry ("telco") is seeking to diversify its sources of revenue by offering to construct, lease, and maintain broadband cable distribution systems. The interests of both industries seem to be furthered by cable/telco joint ventures to construct broadband cable distribution facilities. This article discusses the history of telco involvement in the development of cable television service and examines many of the controversial issues raised over the past thirty years at the Federal Communications Commission (Commission or FCC). It also reviews recently passed federal legislation and sections of the American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T) Modified Fi- nal Judgment dealing with telco participation in the cable television indus- try.

This event prompted the successful quest for SRIF receptors. Then, nearly a quarter of a century later, it was announced that a neuropeptide, to be named cortistatin (CST), had been cloned, bearing strong resemblance to SRIF. Evidence of special CST receptors never emerged, however. CST rather competed with both SRIF isoforms for specific receptor binding. And binding to the known subtypes with affinities in the nanomolar range, it has therefore been acknowledged to be a third endogenous ligand at SRIF receptors. This review goes through mechanisms of signal transduction, pharmacology, and anatomical distribution of SRIF receptors. Structurally, SRIF receptors belong to the superfamily of G protein-coupled (GPC) receptors, sharing the characteristic seven-transmembrane-segment (STMS) topography. Years of intensive research have resulted in cloning of five receptor subtypes (sst1-sst5), one of which is represented by two splice variants (sst2A and sst2B). The individual subtypes, functionally coupled to the effectors of signal transduction, are differentially expressed throughout the mammalian organism, with corresponding differences in physiological impact.

These letters were sent to randomly selected multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs). MVPDs must submit their audit responses to the Commission by November 20, 2020. The responses shall be filed either in ECFS as a filing in Docket Number 20-322, or sent by e-mail to the e-mail address of the EEO specialist who issued the audit letter. In accordance with Sections 73.2080(f)(4) and 76.77(d) of the Commission’s rules,1 the Commission annually audits the EEO programs of randomly selected broadcast licensees and MVPDs. Each year, approximately five percent of all broadcast stations and MVPDs are selected for random EEO audits. By Public Notice DA 20-131, released February 6, 2020, and Public Notice DA 20-600, released June 9, 2020, the Bureau announced the sending of similar audit letters to the broadcast stations listed in the attachments to those Public Notices. A list of the MVPD units to which the October 6, 2020 audit letters were sent is attached, along with a copy of the audit letter.
