    Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

The July 8 release of The Best Of Peter Frampton edition of 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection (A&M/UME), offers a succinct retrospective of his glorious past. The collection features 10 digitally remastered selections from his first eight solo albums, spanning 1972 to 1981, and includes all six of his Top 20 hits. For those who only remember his poster image, it is worth noting that Frampton produced every track and wrote every song except his cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours).” As a 16-year-old guitar prodigy who wanted nothing more than to be taken seriously as a musician, Frampton joined The Herd in 1966. After launching Humble Pie with Steve Marriott, he went solo with 1972’s Wind Of Change, represented on The Best Of Peter Frampton by “All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side).” 1973’s Frampton’s Camel served up the ballad “Lines On My Face” and the following year brought Somethin’s Happening’s “Baby (Somethin’s Happening).” His musical and commercial progression continued with the idyllic Top 20 “Nassau/Baby I Love Your Way” from 1975’s gold Frampton. That album’s “Show Me The Way” was heard in its Top 10 version on 1976’s #1 Frampton Comes Alive!, which set a new mark for the biggest-selling live album in history and continues to add to its worldwide sales of more than 16 million copies.

Peter Frampton (born 22 April 1950 in Beckenham, Kent) is a British musician, best known today for his multi-platinum selling solo work in the mid-1970s when he was an "arena rocker". He originally became famous, however, as a young member of psychedelic era band The Herd and became a teen idol in Britain. Steve Marriott reportedly wanted to bring the 18 year old Frampton into the Small Faces lineup but when rebuffed, started Humble Pie with Frampton instead. After touring the US and Europe for two years, he left Humble Pie as the group was gaining popularity because of disdain for Marriott's hard living lifestyle and screaming boogie rock direction. Aside from his work with Humble Pie, other recordings of this era that feature Frampton include albums by Harry Nilsson, Jerry Lee Lewis, and George Harrison. His solo debut was 1972's Wind Of Change, which did not fare well on the charts, and neither did two more efforts, one under the moniker Frampton's Camel. Constant touring though began to create awareness of his talents and 1974's Frampton LP went gold. He gained lasting international fame by 1976 when his much-loved live album, Frampton Comes Alive! was released. Having built up his reputation on the road, the LP debuted at No. 1 on the charts in January 1976. It was long considered the best-selling live album of all time, moving over 16 million copies worldwide. In 1978, Peter suffered a near fatal car crash in the Bahamas, which left him with a concussion, muscle damage and broken bones.

    Online Issue 5 WINTER 2008 in this issue MEN OF ACTION MURRY HAMMOND JD WILKES TEDDY THOMPSON JASON AND THE SCORCHERS DB Harris (Deron Braxton to his family) is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He notes of his home State that “Hank Williams, Louvin Brothers, and the Maddox family had some roots there, but as far as what got me first it was probably bluegrass. From there it was sort of a porthole into country for me. I'm really glad I found some real key influences that turned me on to what I do now." He recorded an album Deep Dark Black having written the songs while down in Mexico and recorded it back in Alabama. He recorded the follow up Can I Return These Flowers? in Austin, Texas drawing from such talented local players as Eddie Perez to make n album that was described by one local writer as a blend of Dwight Yoakam, Chris Isaak, and The Mavericks. A fair description of the mix between the singing styles of Roy Orbison and the Bakersfield sounds of Buck Owens and Wynn Stewart. DB was doing a double marketing degree from Auburn University whikle parsuing his musical career. For his next release he added more guitars, some groovy Farfisa organ, a hint of surf pop and the result was Contagious Heartache, a concept record of sorts that looked at the trials and tribulations of heartache that was at times darker than the previous album but without losing its sense of humour. In January 2006 DB moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he recorded his latest album Country For Groovers which has just been released.
