Our show features all your favorite songs form the iconic musical, including “Aquarius,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Hair,” “I Got Life,” and “Let The Sun Shine”. Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, HAIR remains as relevant as ever as we continue to examine what it means to be a young person in a challenging world. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Seeking a diverse cast of 4 actors ages 18 and up. The cast will perform an hour of material in a concert setting, singing, and dancing to all the hit songs from the musical, HAIR. AUDITION PACKET XANADU Book by Douglas Carter Beane | Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne & John Farrar Performed at the NorShor Theatre: July 15-17, 22-25 & 29-August 1 Director: Phillip Fazio | Choreographer: Amber Burns | Music Director: Kyle Picha This Tony Award-nominated musical is a hilarious, roller skating adventure about following your dreams despite the limitation’s others set for you that rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends, Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. Based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie of the same title starring Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, Xanadu is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired. Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling mortal artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds. XANADU CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Seeking a diverse cast of actors ages 16 and up. • Kira (Clio): The youngest of Zeus's daughters and the muses. Falls in love with Sonny. Pretty. Adventurous. Honest and determined. Muse of history and the leader of the muses. Soprano. • Sonny Malone: A self-critical and depressed, mortal, chalk artist who falls in love with Kira. Handsome, but not particularly smart. He embodies 1980s pop culture and is very much a California dreamer. Tenor. • Danny Maguire (Zeus): The hard-nosed "all work and no play" businessman who owns the theater he once built for his love, Kira. Used to be a budding artist like Sonny but has since let money and greed consume him. Tenor. • Calliope (Aphrodite): Kira's older sister and fellow muse. She is jealous of Kira and, as Melpomene's sidekick, plots with her for Kira's downfall. The Muse of epics. Mezzo-Soprano. • Melpomene (Medusa): Kira's oldest sister. Mother of the Sirens. She is jealous that Kira is the leader of the muses rather than herself, and therefore creates the plot for her downfall. Muse of tragedy. Mezzo-Soprano. • Thalia: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of comedy. Actor doublings include: Siren, Young Danny, Tubes Singer, and Cyclops. Alto/Tenor. • Euterpe: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of music. Actor doublings include: Siren, Andrews Sister, and Thetis. Soprano. As Eros, she is responsible for shooting Kira with the arrow of love brought on by Melpomene and Calliope's spell. Actor doublings include: Siren, Andrews Sister, Eros, and Hera. Mezzo-Soprano. • Terpsicore: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of dance. As Hermes, the messenger of the gods, he is deeply masculine in voice but sassy and flippant in attitude. Actor doublings include: Siren, Tubes Singer, Hermes, and Centaur. Tenor. Originally from Louisiana, Robert has worked in many spots around the country as a Theatre artist. He is beyond ecstatic to be working on the hilarious Xanadu, it's been on his bucket list for years. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING Director: Christina Stroup Christina Stroup was hired to perform in The Full Monty this past summer and she fell so in love with Duluth, she moved here from Houston, TX! Recently she appeared on the NorShor stage in Don’t Dress For Dinner and Rags to Ritzes. Christina has been a professional actress for over 10 years and is a proud Actor’s Equity member. She’s worked regionally all over the U.S. Christina graduated with a BFA in musical theater and opera from Sam Houston State University. In the past few years, Christina started directing and found a new passion for theater. She’s directed many variety shows and musicals. A personal favorite is Once On This Island Jr. Christina performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Lone Star Festival in London.

    XANADU - CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS Sonny Malone - is the young male lead from the beaches of California. He is wide-eyed, full of ​ dreams and can be a bit sensitive; after all, he is an artist! While Sonny may not be the brightest, he is very sincere and earnest. Actor with excellent comedic timing and singing voice. Kira - Kira is the Greek heroine and loveable, young ingénue. She begins the play as Clio, the ​ youngest and the most idealistic of the Muses. With the addition of leg warmers and an Australian accent, she quickly becomes Kira to help Sonny realize his dreams. She is ambitious, smart and like Sonny, pure of heart. Must be a strong actor, singer, dancer. Danny Maguire - Danny Maguire is a real estate magnate and owner of the Xanadu theater. He ​ should be a malleable actor who can evolve from being guarded about protecting the theater to becoming partners with Sonny and then betraying him. Danny should be an experienced singer. The Andrews Sisters - The Andrews Sisters (Maxene, Patty and Laverne) are an exact duplicate of ​ the Andrews Sisters that were famous in the 1940s. Great singers - might double with other ensemble roles. The Tubes - The Tubes is an iconic, hard-rockin' new-wave band of the 80s. Band members can be ​ ANY GENDER. Must have a lot of energy and sing with character. Melpomene - Muse of Tragedy, is the eldest of the Muses and is most responsible for plotting ​ against Kira. Strong acting and singing required. Calliope - Calliope, Muse of Epics, is Melpomene's "Wing-Muse." She is equally devious and listens ​ closely to her sister's direction.
