Travel back to the 1960s with our exciting new tribute to HAIR. Our show features all your favorite songs form the iconic musical, including “Aquarius,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Hair,” “I Got Life,” and “Let The Sun Shine”. Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, HAIR remains as relevant as ever as we continue to examine what it means to be a young person in a challenging world.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Seeking a diverse cast of 4 actors ages 18 and up.

The cast will perform an hour of material in a concert setting, singing, and dancing to all the hit songs from the musical, HAIR.

This Tony Award-nominated musical is a hilarious, roller skating adventure about following your dreams despite the limitation’s others set for you that rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends, Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. Based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie of the same title starring Olivia Newton-John and , is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired. Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling mortal artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.

XANADU CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Seeking a diverse cast of actors ages 16 and up.

• Kira (): The youngest of 's daughters and the . Falls in love with Sonny. Pretty. Adventurous. Honest and determined. Muse of history and the leader of the muses. Soprano.

• Sonny Malone: A self-critical and depressed, mortal, chalk artist who falls in love with Kira. Handsome, but not particularly smart. He embodies 1980s pop culture and is very much a California dreamer. Tenor.

• Danny Maguire (Zeus): The hard-nosed "all work and no play" businessman who owns the theater he once built for his love, Kira. Used to be a budding artist like Sonny but has since let money and greed consume him. Tenor.

(): Kira's older sister and fellow muse. She is jealous of Kira and, as 's sidekick, plots with her for Kira's downfall. The Muse of epics. Mezzo-Soprano.

• Melpomene (): Kira's oldest sister. Mother of the Sirens. She is jealous that Kira is the leader of the muses rather than herself, and therefore creates the plot for her downfall. Muse of tragedy. Mezzo-Soprano.

• Thalia: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of comedy. Actor doublings include: , Young Danny, Tubes Singer, and Cyclops. Alto/Tenor.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

The Duluth Playhouse is committed to inclusive, color-conscious casting. Actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities are highly encouraged to audition. Seeking a diverse cast of 9 actors ages 16 and up for XANADU and 18 and up for AGE OF AQUARIUS.

AUDITION INFORMATION: VIDEO SUBMISSIONS FOR AGE OF AQUARIUS AND XANADU

CALLBACKS: Will only be held the week on May 3rd, Monday-Friday from 7-10pm. They will be scheduled as needed for individuals and small groups in order to allow for social distancing. Actors who are asked to attend callbacks will be contacted via email. Please let us know if you have any conflicts during this week.
