Spotlight Business ~Kitchen Chicks Selecting Your Event Planner – Tips from Kitchen Chicks! by Jo O’Connor Choosing the right event planner is an integral part of making sure your party/reception/corporate outing comes out the way you envision it. Tourist & Town turns to event planner/caterer Peggy Liversidge of Kitchen Chicks of Kennebunk for some tips. Liversidge suggests these top tips when making your selection: Select a planner with credentials and experience: Your event person is only as good as the vast and varied experience they have. Check references and look at their portfolio and testimonials online with wedding sites such as the Knott.com and Wedding Wire. Make sure you know fees, prices and policies inside out. Your budget, and control of it, is critical in your selection. After all, you don’t want to get stuck with charges that you weren’t aware of. Ask to see price lists and lean on them to understand policies for your big day. Choose an event planner who is compatible with you/your company. Beyond feeling comfortable with the experience your planner holds and getting your arms around your budget, in order for everything to go smoothly, ensuring you have rapport and are at ease with your planner is critical. Make sure your planner under- stands your vision. Once you make your choice, have confidence that they know their job, which is to handle details and issues that arise. Give them room and communicate. That way, you will be able to sit back and enjoy your special day. FMI: Kitchenchicks.com Courtesy photo

Birdhouse Auction & Appetizers ~ to Benefit the Town House School ~ Through the generosity of the local community and the dedication of the Friends of the Town House School, restoration funds were raised and turned over to the Kennebunkport Historical Society. The bid was awarded to builder Gary E. Martin of Kennebunkport in the fall of 2018 and with renovations nearing completion, and with a need for funds for maintenance of the building, the public is invited to a special fundraising event to be held Wednesday, June 19, 4-6 PM, at The Ken- nebunk Inn on Main Street in Kennebunk The auction begins at 4 PM. Birdhouses painted by nearly twenty local artists will be auctioned. The one prerequisite in the painting of the birdhouses was that two green front doors be included, to look like the front of the Town House School. Beyond that, each artist has had carte blanche. Tickets are $20 per person for the reception. There will be a cash bar and appetizers. For more information, please call Barbara at 967-5253 or email [email protected] Friends of the Townhouse School is a 501( c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2015 for the purpose of saving and restoring the Town House School.
