Jack Holt Regatta incorporating Queensland Heron Championship Queensland Championship and May Day Regatta

Notice of Race

1. RULES 1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the special regulations of Australian Sailing and by the sailing instructions for this event. The Class rules of the classes represented will apply. 1.2. Victoria Yardsticks (YS) for off the beach boats will be used. Boats failing to comply with their class rules will have their yardstick adjusted by the race committee. 1.3 NHSAA Rule 6.5 (Genoa) will apply. See footnote

2. ENTRIES 2.1 Every skipper and crew must be a member of a Club affiliated with Australian Sailing and be an Australian Sailing card (”Silver card”) holder. 2.2 The Jack Holt Regatta invites entries from all classes designed by Jack Holt. Examples include Heron, Pacer, , International , National E (Lazy E), , GP14 and . 2.3 The Heron Championship is open to all boats of the Heron class with an A Class Certificate entered in the Jack Holt Regatta. Skippers must be financial members of NHSAA Inc.. 2.4 The Pacer Championship is open to all boats of the Pacer class entered in the Jack Holt Regatta. 2.5 The May Day Regatta invites all other off-the-beach monohull classes with Yachting Victoria Yardsticks of 120 or more. 2.6 Eligible boats may enter on the attached entry form. It shall be lodged with Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club Inc., 24 Boreen Parade, Boreen Point Qld 4565, no later than 10.45am on Saturday 4th May 2019. It shall be accompanied with the required fee. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Race Committee.

3. FEES 3.1 Series entry fee Jack Holt Regatta: $100.00 per boat. Subsequent boats from the one family $80.00. Entries from a school sailing club will be regarded as a family entry. 3.2 Series entry fee May Day Regatta: $80.00 per boat. Subsequent boats from the one family $65.

4. SCHEDULE Registration 09:15 - 10 45 Saturday Competitors’ meeting 11:00 04.05.2019 Races 1, 2, 3 Warning signal not before 12:30 Sunday Races 4, 5, 6, 7 Warning signal not before 10:00 05.05.2019

A lunch break in between the races is planned for Sunday.

5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available when registering.

6. COURSES Triangle and windward-return courses as described in the sailing instructions will be used.

7. SCORING 7.1. Three races constitute a series. 7.2. When more than four races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of its race scores excluding its worst score.

8. PRIZES Jack Holt Regatta: 1st, 2nd,3rd overall. 1st, 2nd,3rd Junior skipper and crew both 17 years and under on 4th May 2019 Heron Championship 1st, 2nd,3rd overall. 1st Junior skipper and crew both 17 years and under on 4th May 2019 1st Lady skipper Pacer Championship 1st, 2nd,3rd overall. 1st Junior skipper and crew both 17 years and under on 4th May 2019 May Day Regatta: 1st, 2nd,3rd overall.

Other prizes may be awarded.

9. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk, see RRS rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

10. INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be covered with a third party liability insurance of at least $5 million.

NHSAA RULE 6.5 GENOA A genoa is an approved sail, as an optional alternative to the jib, which may be used in racing when the Notice of Race permits it AND only used by crews of weight exceeding 135kg fully dressed for racing. Corrector weights up to 10kg may be included in the crew weight measurement provided they are securely fixed under the front thwart. The genoa, and corrector weights if fitted, shall be used for every race in any single regatta.

Entrants intending to use a genoa shall present for measurement prior to Race 1.
