    Membership Policy The General Committee annually determines the categories of membership and charges that will apply from September each year. Membership of SBSC provides the following benefits: 1. Right to store a supported class at the club (subject to availability) and other classes subject to General Committee approval on a case-by-case basis. 2. Free entry into all club races covered by season sailing instructions. 3. Access to discounted use of the clubhouse for private functions. 4. Right to use club on-water assets for private use, with conditions.     The Oceania Laser Class Association OLCA and its Committee Preamble The Laser is what other Classes inspire to be, with a strong Local, District, National, Regional, through to a World organisation. In November 2016 the International Laser Class Association ILCA made the decision to split Oceania from Asia. This aligns ILCA Regions with the International Olympic Committee’s IOC’s Continental Regions represented as the five rings on the Olympic logo. In the future OLCA will develop an events calendar and quality of events to rival any Region in the Laser World. As we develop into the future we plan to become the Region of choice for many ILCA World Championships. If the Oceania Laser Class Association is as successful as I think it can be we can add another 15 countries to the current 118 affiliated with ILCA. Every team member has the skills needed for the business of OLCA to be successful. I am honoured to be one of the Team.     Volume 30 No. 4 September 2010 Mary Nye Meyers,Editor The mission of IOBG is to recognize past commodores of the international yachting community and unite them in order to promote the highest ideals of yachting, and preserve its customs and traditions through social, educational and humanitarian programs. In an earlier report I wrote it was my hope our critically motivated internal analysis might be quickly and amicably resolved, so that more of our time could be spent on boating and water related activities. Our recent membership vote of approval of a number of revised and/or rewritten By-laws should enhance our opportunity to become more deeply involved in the many issues facing the boating community. As if on cue, I have recently received two phone calls asking the extent of IOBG's knowledge and involvement in certain water related issues. For example, one caller asked the extent of our knowledge concerning the established governmental water pollution standards of Puget Sound in Washington State. A second caller asked if any governmental standards have been established concerning oil contamination in the Gulf of Mexico. In fielding these two questions, it became crystal clear to me how little IOBG was involved in any fashion with either governmental or political machinations regarding water or boating issues. To live up to our Mission Statement, we should make an effort to the best of our ability, to alert members to these issues. Hopefully we will have an informative article in each issue of the LOG Newsletter, which would be interesting, as well as educational.

New and modified classes appear every year and it is important to gather information and review results as quickly as possible. For dinghy classes there have been no changes to the original Yardsticks published for the 2013/14 season, as results for review have not been forthcoming. In the absence of race results data for dinghy classes and new internationally sourced classes, where there is yardstick data from overseas available, a comparison is made with other international classes to derive an equivalent Yachting Victoria yardstick value. This is explained further down in this document. Fortunately for catamaran classes, there has been significant work done by the Kurnell Catamaran Club in reviewing various catamaran ratings, as well as validating the ratings against the international SCHRS system. This work has now been incorporated into the YV yardsticks for catamaran classes. Much appreciation goes to KCC for this good work. Catamaran yardsticks are now contained in a separate document: “YV - Cat Yardsticks13_14 v1.0” USE OF THE YV YARDSTICKS A club which intends to run a race or event under the Yachting Victoria Yardstick system should include in the Notice of Race and in the Sailing Instructions clauses based on the following: 1 The version of the YV Yardstick System that is to be used in calculating the mixed class fleet racing results.
