Ad Project

In this project, you will be playing the role of a travel agent. You will create a travel “website” advertising one of the world’s . The advertisement should be informative and fun. Be creative in your approach!

Criteria:

Your powerpoint should include the following items:  An interesting title (slogan for the tour package)  A company name and logo (small artistic design or symbol) that represents your biome  A map of the world showing your biome’s location  Features of your biome: a general description of the landscape (description of etc.), soil types, and any other physical characteristics See document on website in Weather folder for soil information for some of the biomes.  Climate: a description of the seasonal temperatures and precipitation of the biome o Include a graph showing average monthly temperatures and precipitation In most cases, you should easily find these graphs. If you have trouble finding a graph showing both precipitation and rainfall, you can choose a city located in this biome and search for the climate graph for this city.  Seasonal information (best time to visit, best time for viewing wildlife, etc.)  Unique features of the biome  A description of the characteristic plant and animal species of the biome  An example of one plant and one animal adaptation to the biome  Suggested tourism activities for your biome  A description of a significant environmental issue for this biome  The powerpoint or other presentation format should be visually appealing. o Have lots of pictures, graphs, charts to help present the information in an appealing format o Use fonts, styles and size variation to highlight information o Use appropriate organization, spacing and alignment to make the information easy to read  Creativity encouraged: disclaimer statement regarding negative characteristics etc.  Include at least three references at the end of your powerpoint  Name your ppt with your biome name and your class period Biome Choices (1 Group per Class): Arctic (polar grasslands) Boreal Forest (, or evergreen coniferous forest) Temperate Forest Temperate Grassland (temperate or dry woodlands & ) Tropical Rain Forest Tropical Savanna Tropical Deciduous Forest (Tropical Dry Forest) (Not a biome with a set of climate characteristics, see me for modifications) Forests (Not a biome because less extensive, see me for modifications)

Be sure to target your searches- for example, don’t mix up information for the temperate deciduous forest with that for the tropical deciduous forests. In some cases, using quotation marks around your biome name when you search will help you more easily find the correct information. Remember that quotation marks ensure that the words are linked together as a phrase.
